Hi all, just checking in as a new boy. Looking into getting a motorhome after a long time away from this life style.
We had a VW Type 2 for many, many years back in the 70's and 80's but it went to that great campsite in the sky too many years ago. Had some great trips in our "Skippy", we got it from a Australian and so thats why we named the van Skippy a 1600 aircooled painted orange and grey. We had many holidays in the 70's in France when we were the only motorhome on many campsites and boy did we get some funny looks from the French.
In the last couple of years we have hired 2 VW Westie from a man in California and this has given us the taste for getting out in a van once again and in fact would love to go part time if not full time.On our 2nd trip to California we came across a German couple while in Yosemite NP (that's the place to camp) who were touring the States for 12 months in their own VW that they had shipped in from Germany and this would be our idear of camping heaven.
Any advice on finding a van from a good dealer would be great, and what van to look for, just the 2 of us.We know the US tour will not happen as getting the right visa is imposible but one can dream.
