Anyone used this - trying to book it seems like they dont accept anything over 3.5 ton even though you can have up to 10 Metres!

Seems a very arbitrary limit on ‘passenger vehicles’ as the HGV freight limit appears to be 60 tonnes! There were certainly a fair number of HGVs and coaches onboard the last time we used it - pickup truck not moho - but most of the Swedish day trippers are on foot, and no wonder considering the amount of alcohol they consume while on Danish soil! Maybe send them an email as it can’t be the first time it’s been queried?
I haven’t tried that but isn’t there a bridge.

The Öresund bridge is from Copenhagen to Malmo, the Helsingør ferry is at the northern end of Zealand (Sjælland), which has quite a lot going for it and the route cuts off a fair chunk of Southern Sweden if heading further north.

Yes - it's an option but is further south and would miss out a chunk of Denmark that we quite fancy exploring.

Its a while since we used that crossing- sure there were 2 different ferry companies then - and there was a ferry crossing about what seemed like every half hour each way- no issues just turned up and next ferry on - don't remember any issues on weight - though we were 3.5 tons = I wonder if it is a problem just with being able to book at over 3.5 tons ? I wonder if you phone them and ask the question? ?
Have you tried booking through Direct Ferries? had a quick look and couldn't see a weight question]Good luck

I'm sure I took an HGV Artic over that crossing but it was before they built the Oresund bridge!

I may be wrong but I think Helsingor was on the Dame Judy Dench "Who do you think you are"

Worth a watch in iPlayer if I am right and going to the area

We went over the ferry back quite a few years ago and there were lorries and vans of all sizes We just arrived on the day and paid about £20 at the time but on return used the Oresund Bridge and that was just over £40 at the time.

What actual weight is your MH VXman?
The question is not your plated weight, but the weight you are running at. My Knaus is normally just below 3500kg, but it is plated at 4100kg for peace of mind (and lower VED 😉)

It's on the V5 at 4250kg

Actual weight depends what i am carrying. When the motorbike and the electric bikes were on it was weighed at around 4000kg. I don't have the motorbike anymore. but I would esimate it to be over in the 3700 region.

Not sure how this affects a situation like this. They are unlikley to weight it, more likley to go with the V5 - if they check at all????

We got the ferry to Malmo then jumped on the train back for a day out in Copenhagen, worked out a lot cheaper than a site near Copenhagen and then driving over bridge.
We are planning on travelling down from Norway to Copenhagen and then on down through Denmark to Germany - hence the reason to for looking into this ferry at Helsingborg as it is a more direct route not needing to go down towards Malmo and use the bridge.

It appears the bridge is about £100 in a motorhome now. The ferry is a little cheaper but not a lot.

Unless it's changed, when I lived in Sweden, the Helsingborg ferry was what the Swedes used to slip over to Denmark and stock up with booze so PERHAPS should be avoided at the weekend? 🥳

I believe I have read you can get it cheaper if you pre book

When we were there the Main Street was absolutely piled with drink of all sorts and the Swedes were filling anything and everything with what was to them cheap booze to take back

In the early days when I was there, all alcohol was bought through a Government store and the amount was restricted. 🤔

…….. the Swedes were filling anything, everything and anyone with what was to them cheap booze to take back

Fixed it for you. ;)

On our two visits to Helsingør for the annual Shakespeare festival (in the Kronborg castle as the setting for Elsinore in Hamlet) we stayed at Hotel Madam Sprunk, now renamed as Hotel Hamlet, on the corner of ‘booze street’. Best place in the world for people watching on the outside terrace as the Swedes attempted to make their way back to the ferry in a ‘tired and emotional’ condition!

£55!!! (teach me to believe Google AI.) You get a 10% discount if you sign up to their newsletter- how does a bridge warrant a newsletter??.

Actually that makes it cheaper than the ferry which is about £86
