MH
Looking
Hello everyone,

I hope someone can help. I am looking to buy my first motorhome and need some advice.

Here is my thought. I live in France and come over regularly. I want somewhere I can come back to and call home because hotels, b&b etc is very expensive and it's not quite home.

I come back for a week or two every 3 months but perhaps 4-8 in the summer.

SO I want to buy a motor home that will look after me for that time. My question is should I buy a new-ish one for around 20-25k or an old-ish on for 10-15k

I really need we help in understanding this more and any help tips and tricks for my project.

Thank you Darren

you really need to arrange or work out where you can stay in the UK. its not like france re free parking !!

Hi.
You can stay in a lot of nice B&B for the price of a Motorhome?
You need to factor in cost to site or store it for when you stay and visit.
I bought an older, cheaper MH because I don't mind making modification and repairs myself when I can. A MH always needs some tinkering IMO.
I always say crawl in and out of as many MH as you can before deciding on layout. However, your requirement sounds more like you would be better off with a static or holiday caravan?

A b&b or such like costs me around about £300 for a week and maybe 2k for a month. This is because I am originally from the south of England. I do have somewhere I can store it while I am away and someone that can take it for a spin every week. My plan when I am in it is to spend some time in the road and check into various sites along the way. And regarding the caravan option. I would need to hire a care each time to take the caravan and that is expensive and I feel a little risky in a hire car.... And then there is the cost of the car church starts another argument of is the b&b the right portion lol. So this is how I came to the decision regarding the MH

Insurance might be a problem too. Worth checking as most insurance companies won't allow you to leave MH unattended for more than 36 hours.

I don't think you'd get a very new van for about £20k but you would certainly get a decent secondhand one at that price. I would have a look at what is available, maybe visiting a couple of dealers, to get a feel for what you can get. Once you've narrowed your choices regarding your preferred layout you can search private sales via autotrader and the classified section here... Good luck...
