Help wanted,...While having MOT on my Elderly Safari Trek, the tester pointed out that the old girl was almost 300k over the registered weight of 6000k, and it will invalidate the insurance...Gingerly drove home and began emptying fresh water tanks, grey and black tanks,...2 of the 7 110AH batteries, Vast ammount of tinned goods, 50 or so wifes posh dresses, enough toiletries and glups to start my own shop,..2 spare hd jacks, vast array of tools...took her to local weighbridge,...5970k YES Success !, so,..back to my request for help,...it's decision time, ..Do i load ( lockdown permitting) 2 crates of wine, or Large Chocolate Labrador, or Mrs......Decisions, Decisions !

Have you seen the ammount of paperwork involved ? and the expense of having an Engineers safety report ?..much easier to ditch all the unwanted accumulated Cr*p

I think this post really highlights the issue of whether we should try to reduce our payload by either leaving the other half at home or trading them in for a lighter, skinnier model? Now that we can use Sat navs for reaching our destination and reversing cameras/sounders for reversing, we can buy complete frozen meals and we wouldn't need to empty the toilet so often with just one person board.
No flowers at my funeral please ...

If the mrs weighs more than 30kg you'll be over weight any way, so you if you don't take her, you won't need the chocolate, the mrs can look after the dog, so wine it is........

I did a google and the gross weight was indeed 6000kg with a payload supposedly of 2200kg. An empty weighbridge check would be helpful.

I have to take HRH to empty the cassette. No intention of getting a dog. We have plenty of surplus capacity on the loading.

What are the axle weights? That might give some indication of how complicated it may or may not be to uprate.

RV was Privatly imported in 2004,...The 'Rolling Road' MOT Station (Commercial) Weight showed 6300k and after emptying showed 5970k at local weighbridge.. The Isuzu and Safari Plates show 6000k GMW.

Last page in the brown box at the top means your unladen weight should be 3800kg. Not sure that is right, as it would be a very light RV, but if it is then on the weighbridge you were not empty.

Because if the gross is 6000kg and the brochure said the payload was 2200kg then the empty unladen weight is 3800kg. Simples

To achieve the true unladen weight you have to take out anything the manufacturer did not put in it.

NO,.....The Brochure states the Payload as 2200 Lbs,...so the unladen weight would be 5000k....Simples init !

Using the figures supplied on this site,...Chassis weight with a GVWR of 13200 Lbs = 5987.419 Kilos. Payload 2200Lbs = 997.9032 Kilos...so, 5987.419k minus 997.9032k = 4989.515 Kilos, or as near to 5000k as possible.

This Thread started out at a 'Light-Hearted' dig at these dark days...but all that has happened is that a few Trolls have been woken up by the smell of fresh Blood,....Cmon Folks Lighten UP !....And, I still need to make a decision on either wine/dog/wife....

I think I am wrong for yours, the early 90s ones are 6t and the late 90s ones are 7.5t

Thanks for the update, the manufacture of our Trek was actualy started in 1989, and completed early 1990, and registered in 1991, so pre 'magic-bed' model. Might be easier for me to buy a smaller (and lighter) MoHome ....Anybody interested in a Safari-Trek ?...Going Cheap....
