we are away for new year, and today the truma decided to drop off the wall in the cupboard with a bang, water was gushing everywhere, we have lifted it and fixed it into place, but now we are getting a red fault light and only blowing cold air, we are not on EHP, we have a rapido 985f, hopefully it will all dry out and start to work, but anyone got any ideas of wha we can do
Thanks

Hi Bob & Val.

Sorry to hear of your woes. :(

Normally, a steady red light indicates a lack of gas. Did you by any chance, isolate the gas valve as soon as it happened, or before attempting to repostion the heater? Has the gas supply pipe been damaged at all.

Are you getting gas up to the fridge, and to the cooker rings? If so, then possibly it's only the supply to the boiler that is affected. If water got into the PCB, that would cause the heater to malfuntion.

It is hard to help, when not in situ. Good luck with it. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

P.S. There is a tiny fuse on or near the PCb, which may have blown, due to the incident.

Firstly you need to turn off your gas supply, if the heater "fell off the wall" I'd be positively amazed if it hasn't damaged or even completely fractured the gas supply pipe! Secondly you really need to tell us exactly what heater unit it is, Truma make several different models including convector heaters (s3000 series), blown air heaters (E series), water heaters ( ultra store), early combination space and water heaters (C series) and the current combination units called Combined.

Obviously as you say it caused water leaks it narrows it down but it could still be either an Ultra store, a C series or a Combined.

Help us to help you!

@dave newell lvs the our truma is the C series, on the booklet with the motorhome which is a 2004 model it says Trumatic C3402 & C 6002, the truma fell off one side ( the tiny screws which were holding it to the wall gave way, we were just sat there, put heating on and it sounded like someone shut the garage door) going to try the reset button, if we can find it, we have got gas to oven and cooking rings, but not to the truma it seems.
Will let you know how we go.
Thanks for advice

I repeat, TURN OFF THE GAS SUPPLY until it has been checked! I confess to being baffled by it "dropping off the wall" as the C series has three feet which should be screwed to the floor, it is not a wall mounted heater. Can you post some photos indicating what happened please?

The truma boiler is bolted to a plywood false floor, which is suspended on a wooden rail to outwall of van, which has dropped away allowing the truma to drop one side.
It's difficult to show the false floor, these are photos inside the van, we have put a bracket in holding the false floor up as screws not holding, it must have been vibrating to loosen the floor

There are a couple of possibilities: when the heater dropped it may have damaged the flue (the black convolute pipe in your third photo) it is also possible, nay probable, that the gas supply has been damaged. The connection on the heater is brass and will snap if subjected to undue stresses, hence my insistence that you turn off the gas supply and examine the pipework to the heater.

Update on our truma, we have took it to a caravan services, they have tested it in the van and out, it keeps firing up, then within a few minutes it shut's down.
They are sending the pcb to truma to be tested FOC, if it is this it's going to cost £330 Eeeek!!
if it isn't this, then it's back to testing other things again. let's hope it's sorted soon
