I have a 2009 Autotrail Excel. Something has happened to the lock on the habitation door. The key will not insert completely, so it cannot be locked/unlocked. It looks as though the "barrel" is just secured by two small screws in the two plastic lugs. Is that right? If it is the case, can anyone recommend where I could get a replacement barrel?

Thank you - that's very helpful. Just got to find the right one now.

Does the barrel extract internally, or externally? Does it matter that I can't get the key in, and am not sure whether it's in the locked or unlocked position?

If its locked you may have some difficulties.
It comes out, outward towards the outside of the van door.
You are likely to have to remove a few of the internal screws.
The normal way is to unlock the lock and put in a security key ( you can get them for around a £10 on tinternet)
But if no key will go in then you will have to try and manipulate it from behind.
I recently changed all my lockers to have them matching but left the hab door which is similar to yours.

Thanks for that summary. I'll get a security key, and then see how it goes. I can't recall whether it was locked or unlocked when I first discovered that the key won't insert.

The tumblers in the barrel may be seized.
It might be worth holding open the little red key slot cover, and squirting some penetrating oil in.
Give it 10 minutes and then try your key in a few times to see if you can persuade the lock to operate.

Thanks, I'll try that.

Update .....

I squirted some silicone spray into the lock, but it had no immediate effect.

I also purchased a "Red key", and although I can fully insert it, in the Open position, the Barrel will still not come out.

However, I now find that the lock will operate reliably with my spare key, that is virtually new, so the exercise has at least resulted in a working lock again. Maybe the Red key and silicone dislodged a foreign body in the lock.
