Hymer motorhome - - Habitation door closed in the wind whilst flyscreen across .. now I have a broken string on the concertina screen. Can anyone help in advising where I can get it repaired please ?

I will watch this thread with interest, not because I've just done exactly the same, it was the wind that did it. Honest.
Phil

This may help.

Great link thank you .... But not sure I dare do it myself ... Got the habitation door alarm fitted to the frame by Vanbitz, would hate to knacker that up !

The plastic clip type door retainers are too risky. I have had hab door slam in the wind but fly screen not across.
I have tried to find a hook type retainer to avoid the door being slammed by the wind but only one so far but not convinced.

I sent a private message to Hils and Glenns a while back that had an article, with photos, of how to repair the screen. I haven't retained the conversation but they may well have kept the article. Maybe send them a private message?

Our retainer on our Bailey broke. Now we use a bungee round the handle and the other end hooked on the near side rear hubcap.

I've still go it. PM me if you want it. Its from MMM magazine.

I have re-strung two of these Hartal concertina screens now using kevlar kite string rather than the cotton type crap stringing the manufacturers use that wears through and fails.

Here ya go.

Fantastic - idiots guide just what I need
Now time to go online and order some kite string
Thanks again

Here's the kevlar kite string I used.
I used the 1.3mm/500Ib line which was a little to bigger diameter and although it all works fine, it does make the opening and closing the door screen a little stiffer than I would have liked so I would go for the 1.1mm/300Ib line if I were you.

I also remade the ends and joins inline with the manufacturers method by using electrical wire crimping ferrules and bought a cheap crimping tool and ferrule kit.

Two things you must do is take lots of photo's of the corners of the frame and the stringing route over the corner components before and during dismantling otherwise you will be scratching your head and cursing as to how they go, and take care that the lines are of equal length and tension of the originals.

The links are to the Amazon website, so if you can't see them then switch off your ad blocker.

You get a warm fuzzy feeling a smirk of a smile when your door fly screen is back in and working and you have saved yourself £400 or more. :D

Love the thought of saving money ... Keep telling myself to be brave and get the tool kit out :giggle:
Thanks again for all the advise I have been given
