Opened a tin the other day and found the sauce was like water.. literally..
when I served them up they swam all over the plate in this thin watery sauce..

So.. I fired off a complaint to Heinz with the can code and where purchased..

Two days later.. a letter from them thanking me for bringing it to their attention and they would forward the information to the factory.. Enclosed, a £5 food voucher ..

I bought Heinz because I thought they are better than the own store brands.. not so sure now.

Has anyone else noticed this .. or is it just a bad batch ?

Personally I don't think so.. I think Heinz are cutting costs to compete with cheaper brands..

Bad batch for sure Jim.
I had some last night and they were fine.
However, we find that most own brands are OK these days too, Branston are really nice.
I guess there can only be so many companies producing them after all??
The only issue I have with all of them is the high salt and sugar content...

Only middle class snobs and rich baby boomers eat Heinz beans!

We make do with own brand beans whilst we put all we can into our pensions so we might retire at 80!

i believe heinz beans have been going downhill for some time now we get branston

possibly..

it was a six pack and the next can was the same.. so I took some photos to fire off..

I found if you microwave for about 10 mins it steams off the water ..

I see the problem now Jim.
To coin a phrase, "Contents Have Settled During Transit"...they just need a damn good stir...:thumb:

yeah right.. wish I had a pic with them on the plate..

When Chaz saw them on her plate I was accused of buying cheap beans .. :Eeek:

said they looked like school meal's beans ..

Have to say,if ever I have them now,add a squirt of Heinz Tom ketchup to the sauce, think the change happened at the same time as they reduced the salt,

I add HP Brown Sauce to the mix, or even Marmite...:thumb:

yes, it's a sad state of affairs when we have to add sauce to make them nice..

it's like buying a new motorhome and having to make your own soft furnishings..

Curry power is good, or a dash of Tabasco, Chilli, or soy sauce ... mmmmmmmmmm

Do you now notice that the cans say," Heinz beanz". Evidently a couple of years ago it was changed from, " Heinz baked beans" as our Eastern European friends found it too difficult to say.

Another convert to Branson, and usually on ogre some where, £1.30 something at B & M this week, gave up on Hienz ages ago as they just did not have any taste.

Add a small dollop of butter into the beans, (about half a walnut sized), it will thicken the sauce in the microwave.

I prefer Branston anyway.

Much to the disgust of my family I am a great fan of a tin of cold Heinz Beans straight from the tin when in a hurry, I have noticed a vast difference from tin to tin, but probably batch to batch is more appropriate as your own 6 pack indicates.

I can tell when I peel back the top whether they will be thick or watery based on how much sticks to the lid

I've always used Heinz as they are okay for my diet but have recently been given a recipe to make my own so am going to try this when i get chance.... it looks easy enough and I'll be able to adjust to my own taste.

definitely Branston baked beans for me, I stock pile them when they are on offer. (it's was Sainsburys with a great deal this week, a pack of 4 £1.50 or 2 packs for £2!) :thumb:

Can any of the Branston fans check on the label to see if they are gluten free? It should say if they contain gluten or are made in a factory that handles gluten. Thanks!

I'm a great fan of lidl...but their baked beans are from another planet....rather strange. Anyone else had the "pleasure"
