Hi, has anyone used the Aire at Hawick? Thinking of giving it a try and was wondering if there has been any issues with it.

Thanks:Smile:

hi Gordon, used it 4 times last year very good don't think you can use it at w/end, market on in car park sat. or sun.

hi, Gordon, just had a look on Google earth think market is on sat.

Because of the market, you can't use it on a Friday night - extract from www.scotborders.gov.uk website..

Dedicated parking for occupied motorhomes

There are dedicated spaces in The Haugh car park in Hawick where sleeping, camping and cooking are permitted.
These spaces are available from Easter until the end of September for a one night stay. There are toilets, a fresh water tap and volunteers on hand during the day to welcome visitors and give them information on the town.
Overnight stays aren’t possible on Friday nights because of the Saturday market, and the first couple of weeks in June are also out because the site is used for a local fair.
The scheme is in the second year of two year trial and may become a permanent fixture if successful. The trial was instigated by the Hawick Welcome Initiative, a group of volunteers that works to enhance the quality of the visitor experience in Hawick.

Thanks for the replies. It was going to be Friday night we were going to use it. Will need to change that now and perhaps call in at the end of our trip.:thumb:

We are parked up at the aire now. Nice n close to the town, and less than a five minute walk to the chippy and a 2min walk to a Londis supermarket that opens til 10pm. There is a local sainsburys just over the bridge heading away from town.

Car park toilets open 7am - 6pm. The water tap is situated next to the walkway exit to the bridge.

Looking foward to some shopping in town tomorrow.

Try Jedburgh just up the road. Big car park. Although not "official" like Hawick, friendly staff at the TO at top of car park say it's OK. Public toilets during day. Nice town. Been there 3 times along with other vans, mostly from mainland Europe. No problems other than a wee bit of showing off from local boy racers.
