I'm at the pulling my hair out stage with my water. Hoping those of you with lots of patience can be bothered to offer some advice on where I might be going wrong. I've posted previously re Reich pumps etc and the advice given was great but I still seem to be no further forward.

My problem is that I'm getting water to the taps but the flow just isn't right, mainly in that it's like going through the air lock process every time there's been a pause in demand. I know there's a need for a non return valve in the system but I was under the impression the Reich pump had one.

I'll attach photos and if anyone can correct me where I'm failing I'll be eternally grateful

If you can fit a shurflow diaphragm pump, very reliable and good at maintaining pressure,

Hi - I'm struggling to imagine what 'flow doesn't look right' or 'air lock process' means ... I have had air locks in the past and draining the whole system and then filling it with the drainage points open cleared it. I've also recently had a pump that was dying and for a few days usage was gushing, high pressure and then no pressure, and it just gave up the ghost a few days later. My pump has a non return valve between the pump and the outlet pipe, that could be an in-line one in grey on yours ...

Looking at the website, it states the twin unit delivers even if one motor fails - are you sure a motor hasn’t failed?

It also says “some” have non-return vales

Hi
The grey bit on the end of your pump is the NRV, remove the pipe and suck and blow, you will know then if it's working ok, also make sure the filter is not blocked up at the bottom of your pump

I had a problem with mine on my Hymer, it ended up being the plastic joint on the cap that was cracked and letting air in

Check the actual NRV on the pump as well, it could be just a shadow, but looking at your photos, the NRV appears to have a slight gap at its base, check it isn't fractured/breaking away

The NRV is often, and easily damaged by water freezing in it, causing it to fail. Fit a new one and test. Doesn’t matter if you have two.

Sorry, that's part of my problem too I think in not being able to describe the issue properly. An example of not looking right might be that the kitchen tap flow is poor where the shower and toilet sink seem decent while the toilet itself is non-existant practically. The air lock process I meant to be like when you refill after drain down for example, and there's spluttering for a while until it clears....

The pump is new, I've gone through a few of them for various reasons!

Pretty sure it hasn't failed and I definitely think it's a NRV fitted one judging by the part at the top🤔

Yes, I don't think it's the best fit I have there and it probably should have one of those screw on connections but they're harder to get than hen's teeth at the moment

As an added observation that might be a pointer, I disconnected the pipe attached to the pump to check things and a lot of water poured out of it. I wouldn't have expected that to happen would you think that's normal or is a further sign of things just not being connected properly

somewhere, air is entering the system. Could be a small leak, a cracked fitting of failed non return valve

Are you able/capable to take it all out and test it in a bucket or one of those clear plastic boxes? It might need the power cable extending but you would be able to see the suck, blow and even the NRV working or not.

Am I silly to think that as it's sending water all the way to the shower and toilet sink with decent flow that the suck/blow as described seems to be ok? Can I ask as a complete idiot why are there two pipes leading to/fro the water tank, one attached to the pump obviously, what is the purpose of the other one?

Probably an overflow pipe. That is what it is in my Hymer

Out of curiosity, can anyone tell me if the tank cap where the overflow pipe connects, should have a little plastic ball inside as a sort of float. Mine doesn't have one but I wondered if it should and could the lack of one be an issue re air? If it is an issue, where the hell do I get one or is there something else I could use to replace it?

Sounds like there may be a problem with the cassette water supply may be a crack or pipe connection loose🤔
