Yes, I fitted a sewed leather cover to a porsche steering wheel that I fitted to my VW T25.

It was a complete sod to do as I wasn't happy with the first two attempts, you're looking at it every time you're behind the wheel and I just couldn't get the seams straight at first.

Once it was done to my satisfaction, even with the bottom join wonky, it looked great, but the cuts in my fingers from pulling the stitching tight took months to heal!

Yes I have and it is a lot nicer to hold but itā€™s not as easy to fit as the you tube videos make out , itā€™s tying the knots to finish and restart between the spokes of the steering wheel that I found the hardest .

Not diy but I have seen an advert for a company that fitted leather covers to steering wheels. I fancied the one with red stitching.

Yes it not a bad job just watch you tube vids and go for it. Buy a leather sewing kit from eBay or Amazon got all the bits you need.

I fitted one to my Ducato because the steering wheel felt too skinny. Easy enough to fit,but now the wheel feels a bit too fat!! Ah well, cest la vie! I think I got it at Halfords.

Son-in-law has a box full of steering wheel covers. He puts one on every car that comes to his garage. They have the added advantage that you just pull them off and throw them away when you're done with it.

I put one on a Ford 100E Prefect just a decade or so ago. Definitely made it go faster downhill but did'nt prevent the wipers stopping when going uphill in the rain. šŸ¤”
Passenger in a Pop 100E that crashed. The bonnet fold forwards on them, hit the tree bonnet came up head hit edge of bonnet. 23 stitches 10 days coma type thing 3 weeks hospital. I was 14.

Snap, except mine was on a ford angliašŸ˜ but it would be quicker than your mini as it also had go faster stripes
Neither would have touched my Ford Crappy, 1600 with starsky and hutch white flash painted on using household gloss...

Took the original leather steering wheel off Bertie and put a wooden one on. Feels more in keeping. (kept the original of course)
