Anyone navigated around Hamburg recently
I know it used to be a pain with lots of roadworks etc.

Yes correct when we bought our Motorhome April 2018 from Hamburg, it was an absolute nightmare both around Hamburg and the motorways getting there.

Surely it’s improved over 4 years later?

We went round Hamburg last month ,both directions. There are lots of roadworks but the traffic was moving quite freely and no hold ups.

As long as things keep moving I'm happy.
It's when it is stop start that it is a pain

Back to this question again
Plan A for next months trip is heading towards the baltic.
Not wanting to visit Hamburg this trip
My thinking is to head for the ferry Wischhafen-Glückstadt anyone gone this way?
On the way back Lunburg is a lkely stop so I will go south anyway.

Plan B if the weather is not playing ball we will turn south and head down Mosel etc

Came through Hamburg last month.
Hold ups about 2+ hours., both ways.
It was hot and didn't enjoy it.
Further roadworks near Bremen.......
A diversion, if possible, would be advisable.

Couple of years ago on our way to Norway we had a nightmare trip around Hamburg. On our way back we came through The Netherlands - okay you still have Antwerp, but as we came through on a Sunday afternoon it was almost peaceful!

ISTM that last month most of the autobahn network had contraflows in place.

From our trip last September
Going east on a Sunday all was fine.
There was contraflow but they were all OK.
Coming back on a week day like Avo we added about two hours to our trip.

Travelled West on our way to Hirtshals ferry Denmark about a month ago, weekday. Ghastly, much like 2019 the last time we did it, resulted in us trading in our manual for an Automatic at the Malvern show!

Not looking forward to our return journey in 10days but something to be endured.
