are a bit of a joke.

I ordered a Nextbase dashcam online, which duly arrived as promised. Opened the outer (brown) box and found the Nextbase box had been opened, so security seal broken. Took out the camera to find it wet, covered in condensation, no sticky covers on lens or screen (on back).

Thought I return it, as I live 25 miles from nearest Halfords, I'd arrange to return via post/courier/pick up.

No, if I take it to Halfords its free, but to post or courier is at my cost. Anyway I called customer services and was told it was free to post back, and ignore what was on returns form, aye right.

They agreed to collect after I told them what was written in black and white was law not their version of just return it via post. So why no free returns ?? I've not seen this before when buying online and needing to return something.

If customer services told you it was free to return then just return it.

Standard usually if item is faulty.
Take photos of the condition it arrived in before posting it back

I did a click and collect from my local Halfords. It was for an awning tie down kit. A bit was missing so it was returned and replacement ordered. When I picked up replacement I opened it in the store. No original box, pegs rusty and straps dirty. Even the the store assistant was amazed. He had to say "I suppose you would like your money back".

I agree except it would be at my initial cost. And the item wasn't faulty (I didn't set it up though) but used.

I think if it was wet and full of condensation that would also come under the faulty banner.
Being electrical I wouldn't even plug a wet camera in.

As long as they refund your postage plus initial purchase that's probably the best you'll get from them
