Got a new cheapo single DIN radio/cd player from Halfords earlier, £50, as the one in the MH doesn't take CD's (I know I'm old fashioned).
At the till I was asked did I want a free fitting estimate so I said ok.
Guy looked at my MH (Ducato) and said £135 plus vat.
I replied what to pull the old one out, unplug the aerial and plug, put the aerial and plug in the back of the new one and push into the slot.
Yes he said.
No thanks I'll give it a miss I replied.
Just fitted it, took all of 5 minutes.

Halfords Currys all the big high street brands are complete tuck up merchants

Sell cheap crap for high money

Was forced to use them the other week for a longer usb cable. £15 for a bit of Chinese crap

I had a new radio fitted by Halfords. It didn't cost £135, but was a complete mess. I arrived for my appointment mid- afternoon, and they kept delaying till it was dark. Installation was then done by two lads, by the light of a phone. The DAB radio/ windscreen aerial didn't work well, and when I upgraded to an external aerial which I had fitted elsewhere, he was scathing about the Halfords installation. Shoddy wiring, and the radio not properly retained by the clips.

The only reason I accepted the fitting quote was that it was free and if they had said a reasonable figure I might have gone for it to save me having to get any wiring adapters.
As it was there was an adapter from the original Fiat wiring plug to the aftermarket head unit that plugged straight into the new head unit.
Couldn't have been easier.
They would have charged £135 plus vat for a 2 minute job.

Maybe that’s why it’s called Halfrauds

Exactly.
Dick Turpin would have been proud 🤣
They wanted more than my main Ford dealer charged for my last car service.
