Newer Hymer model with the Comfort pack and wider habitation door, return spring on upper latch failed recently so latch had to be pushed back whenever door used or it fouled door frame. (The standard door has only a single latch) The entire latch was replaced under warranty dealer mentioned they had a couple of customers with same spring failure. So I would like to source a couple of spare springs just in case as our warranty expires this month. Has anyone been this route and obtained any? If so please post.
Photos show latch mechanism minus the spring, not sure if both latches are the same, Manufacturer is Fap Firenze (Italian I think) serial number is shown in photos if anyone could point me in the right direction for spares I would be most grateful.

I have never found a supplier of the springs and now make my own. The top and bottom springs are 'handed' an as such are different.
We would be very interested if a supplier is found.
Cheers
Ed

We had one fail on our Rapido same type as Eddies but looking at the Hymer door that may be a bit more involved in getting the cover of the door it’s a very tight fit.

The left and center are the sheared springs, the right is a replacement I made which was my best effort after a lot of faffing about.
Cheers

Did anyone get anywhere with sourcing these springs? Both mine have gone and how do you remove the inner part of the door?

Have you tried a local locksmith?

They usually carry a supply of various springs. One may be suitable.

Hello to you all! I have a motorhome repair shop in Holland and one of my activities is the repairs of motorhome and travel trailer locks. I produce springs with a CNC indexer and also modify the lock it self. The way the springs are factory mounted are doomed to crack again. Our spring is simplified and has only stress in one direction. Jan photo 1 is the same lock, photo 2 is a lock lever from Hymer, photo 3 4 and 5 is an Adria internal plastic lever that frequently breaks. Just to let you know! Kind regards, Jan

Hi Jan, on the subject of springs in door mechanisms, I have a Dethleffs Esprit and the spring that enables the internal lock activation lever has broken and so far have failed to find the correct one from dealers, I did manage to get one that looked similar but was slightly heavier gauge wire and three coils instead of the two of mine. I did try to utilise it but it is far too strong .
Picture shows the mechanism, the marked area are the two holes it locates in and the second pic is of the correct spring, it is actually the broken one I managed to place the two parts together for the pic

Hello, I have a spring available, however I also make a modification to the lockplate to avoid double stress on the spring. The motion provides a torsion to the angeled pin that runst to the lockplate in to the door frame. Springs are made from 1 mm stainless steel 304

Kind regards, Jan
