Habitation door handle stuck

Just a question to the collective forum of all knowledge
SWMBO pulled the door handle into the open position before the van was properly unlocked and now it is stuck in the open position. Can't release it so it lies flush in the door.

Does anyone have a fix please?

If you can get the door open, you might be able to push the lock "snib" back into position with a screwdriver or similar ? I've had to do that on our Burstner before.

ChrisSue...you may find this gives you some pointers. I appreciate it's not your door but the broad principle of construction may apply.

Happens to me when swmbo grabs and pulls the door handle before i can unlock with the remote. Handle remains stuck in the open position.
I then have to press the lock then unlock on the remote.

Thanks all. I couldn't get my key (with the remote) into the lock and the spare was tight too. Anyway I had some lock lubricant graphite spray at home and it let the spare lock and unlock which released the handle
