I'm having an issue with my habitation door central locking.
2010 Fiat Ducato X250 base vehicle - Autotrail Apache 700.
My remote key recently went for a swim and stopped working.
I got a replacement key from our local specialist which works almost perfectly fine.
The issue is that the habitation door won't unlock when I use the remote. It locks with the remote, and it both locks and unlocks with the buttons in the cab, but when I try to unlock with the remote it makes a clunk from within the habitation door but doesnt unlock.
The fact it unlocks fine with the cab buttons implies that it's not a physical issue.
I reset the body control module / disconnected the cab battery for 10 mins, but that didn't solve it.
I spoke to the key specialist and he can't explain it.

Anybody got any thoughts or experienced this problem before?

No, the hab door is connected with a cable that permanently links to the mechanism. There's no electrical contact point.

Given your hear the solenoid "clunking" on the unlock button it would appear, as you say, not to be a physical problem.

Your remote will probably have three buttons (from the metal ignition barrel), "cab door unlock", "all doors lock" and "hab door unlock". Clutching at straws a little bit but the key guy hasn't programmed the hab door unlock button as being the same as the "all doors lock" button? If he has you would hear the solenoid clunking but it would just be relocking the already locked doors.

Out of curiosity does the hab door lock \ unlock manually with the Zadi key?

To answer the question first, yes the habitation door locks and unlocks with they key.

And I believe you have answered the mystery with your post.....

Previously the old key had the following functions for me... 3 buttons in order from the 'key' end:
- all doors unlock
- all doors lock
- habitation door unlock

Now what I have is as you wrote:
- cab doors unlock (plus clunk from habitation door)
- all doors lock
- habitation door unlock

So perhaps somehow with the new key it works as it was supposed to?
As it was different from how it was before (the button closest to the ignition barrell always opened all doors) I presumed there was an issue now, but maybe that's not the case.
Either way I can open the hab door with the 'hab door unlock' button, and if that's how it's supposed to be then thats fine.....

Thanks for the assistance

I think there are two types of key like this -

On the first it operates as follows (starting closest to "B") -
  • unlock cab doors (hab door remains locked)
  • lock all doors
  • unlock hab door (cab doors remain locked)
On the second it operates as follows (starting closest to "B") -
  • unlock all doors
  • lock all doors
Pleased to hear you're sorted.(y)

On all the Ducatos I've had, it's been as your second scenario, i.e. what you now have.
