Hi all, our motorhome is 4 years old this year. The warrantee is for 5 years, after the 5 years do we still have to have the expensive habitation check done.
I have worked in maintenance all my life and I am a qualified spark. When watching the guys do the habitation check last year at our home there was nothing they did that I cant do or had any equipment that I don't have.
Now retired and want to reduce unnecessary expenditure.
Sensible answers only please.

There is no legal requirement to have it.
Not having a current one may affect the value when you sell it (but having a sheaf of them showing you've had them done regularly probably won't affect it).
If you are confident/competent around electricity and gas, get a damp meter etc., and diligently work through the check list then there's no reason not to do it yourself.

Never had one done even on the 3 new vans that we have had, just had the damp check done for warranty purposes.

Just get a check done 1-2 months before warranty is up ,to give time to claim if required.

After warranty just check yourself as you would do normally anyway .
