Several years now
Now that Boris has said that we should not do non-essential journeys and cut down on meeting people I wonder how we will stand with hab warranties based on yearly checks?

Our Chausson requires a yearly check at a Chausson dealer in order to keep the damp ingress warranty valid. It is due next month. I am thinking of calling the dealer and asking if Chausson will still honour the warranty if we CANNOT bring the MH into the dealer for checking due to this international crisis.

I will ring the dealer first then ask for their answer via email.

We are due in this friday.
Will ring the place tomorrow.
We are also booked into a campsite with deposit paid. If they arent accepting new arrivals I hope they return the deposits.

I rang our dealer regarding a hab service as the van is booked into the Fiat Profesional dealership just down the road from them for a recall check and first service.
As the Fiat bit is booked for 2pm they said they could carry out the hab service at 9am. This would work ok as it will only involve one 80 mile round trip.
I mentioned that as I’m 75 and I’m not sure that I should be out and about, but what happens if I do not have the hab service done as per the warrantee schedule. The lady making the booking said, well the manufacturer will always look for a get-out, but, this virus has to be looked at as a special circumstance though.
I’m looking at just driving to both places, giving the steering wheel, ignition key, gear lever and hand brake a wipe down with antiseptic wipes when I get there, go for a long, lonely walk and then a good wipe down when I set out to come home.

I am in the same dilemma. Doing a risk assessment - the workshop I use is a small business employing perhaps 3 people. I can take preventative measures by keeping my distance, not shaking hands and using a sanitiser before and after. I feel he need his business to keep ticking over and I need my service done so on these issues I will probably get it done.

You can take the attitude that it IS an essential and prearranged journey?. After all what are they going to do? IMHO you won`t be questioned, our police have far more to worry about, if you are? they have a choice arrest? Not likely. Worst case they would give you a lecture. From a distance of about 2 yards!.
Have you been tested? (No) neither have 99% of the country. You do the sensible things, give some distance wipe the wheel, handles ect;.

There has been speculation about £1000 fines and Jail. but I have yet to see anything concrete.

Also bear in mind that the "idea" behind "quarantining" over 70`s is for thier protection, NOT because they are more likely than the general population to infect others. The "Super-speaders" are the young kids, they spread disease amongst themselves like a wildfire.

At the moment it is only recommended that over 70s and people with serious preconditions do not travel. In my opinion if you are well, go. If you were 69 you wouldn’t worry. I know the Coronavirus is serious but most people only get mild symptoms and to keep it in perspective I understand that it is estimated there are approx 1600 cases in the UK. That is 1 in 37500.

Boris plainly said that in order to protect this Country from CV that all non-essential journeys should not be undertaken. I have a MH which is (I think) in excellent condition, so to my mind heeding the Boris request comes before a Hab check, but I want Chausson to confirm to me that they will not penalise me in the future because of that.

Also, using less diesel might put a smile of Greta's face !!

AND. To put it in perspective, Between 10 and 15 THOUSAND die from flu related illnesses every winter!. As for essential journeys? I doubt if all the 70+ members of the HOL will be giving up the £300 a day?, Nor will the "over 70" MP`s.

I have a service booked tomorrow morning, we have decided to go, but not to go out for lunch while it's being done, may risk fish and chips instead

Today, as a result of the latest restrictions on travel and gatherings, I had the sad duty to cancel our Easter rally at Pershore.
It gave me no satisfaction to do so but, having also heard that the MHF insurers had removed our rally cover insurance, it made that decision to cancel even more correct.
"There's always next year" can be said but possibly not if you are one of the peeps who are to go down with this killer.
Fergus Walsh, a correspondent with Aunty said tonight that the victims catching this virus will double in number every five days. By my reckoning that will mean by Easter we will have 200,000 people diagnosed as having had it.

I`m Not. (except at the "common-sense" level) The reasoning being that, no matter what you do "We`re all gonna die". Worry, stress and depression are as great a threat IMV. Plus the fact that I learned a long time ago to laugh at adversity, (black humour) having been a merchant seaman for near 20years. We are going to lose some from the effects of isolation. When this is "over" it will be an interesting exercise to count up how many die from C-V19 and how many from the effects of the isolation.

The doubling will only occur if we don’t follow the measures outlined in the PM’s press conference - that is why they have announced the measures that they have.

Fair enough but I've seen enough posts on here (and elsewhere) from selfish peeps
to think that that there will enough, "Don't apply to me" to make that 200,000 a reality.

We'll see, from behind closed doors.

The alternative is to use the M-H as a Mobile "isolation base"? Quiet spot, park up make tea and even lunch. Enjoy the view. Walk the dog away from others. Watch the world. instead of 4 walls and the "Crap" on T-V. If you need fuel, Fill up when quiet and pay at the pump. IMV that fulfils the principal of the Request from Government.

Got the same issue, Weinsberg 10yr warranty requires annual ‘tightness check’ at appointed dealer. Problem is the nearest dealer is 160 miles from me, so was planning to tie in with a 2 night stay at Weston-super- Mud getting trusted Fiat agent to do the 1st service at the same time. We’d need to amuse ourselves on both days the van is booked in, using local buses and hanging around in shops/cafes/pubs to avoid the rain. All part of the fun normally, but maybe not this year? Leaves me with the problem of invalidating the warranty tho’.

Totally meaningless without knowing how many were tested, and where.

I think these are confirmed Tests? But apparently a shed load are self isolating. including a substantial number of Teaching Staff?. Is Minxygirl Self isolating too? Or just dodging?.

You won’t die from good ol fish and chips unless you are allergic to potatoes ???

Has anyone heard back about their warranty checks? Ours is due and we don’t want to take the MH out.

We left our MH with Cannock resprays for the hab service last week were picking it up on Thursday. Other than leaving it there for possibly 3 months I can't see what else to do but fetch it
