Morning folks.

Are most/all grey water tank drain off taps on the off (road) side of UK motorhomes?
We're designing a grey water point and trying to decide if it's better as drive-over type or off to one side with a short length of pipe to attach to the drain off tap.

as above
Our first van conversion had a pipe clipped to the n/s under the sliding door. I extended it to enable me to reach the drains easier.
The coach build we have now has a tap built into the os skirt. I have fitted a gardena adapter to the tap. On fully serviced pitches with grey drains I keep a length of pipe to clip on. It’s helped to reach the drain on a couple of sites.
Having more room now I often use a waste container to drain the grey tank if we are on sites for a few nights.

changed mine now for a drain off tap on either side now. Can now dump grey water either side or both at the same time.
and it cost less than £20 and took less than an hour.

and I still have a flexy pipe just in case it’s a long way from the drain.

Drive over type!

Anything that involves clipping a pipe to the MoHo drain pipe will:
  • Be driven over an broken.
  • Be the wrong size
  • Be on the wrong side
  • Be pulled out as the driver forgets he has it plugged in
  • Be too filthy to use
  • Has too many moving parts
  • Many owners (especially of hired vehicles) have no idea where their drain is, or how to use it.
There is a reason why most sites go for the sloped concrete apron approach.
If you have 10m of cambered roadway already, then as has been suggested above, install storm drain channels down either side to a drain cover.

Now that's what I call being prepared, two outlets AND a flexy pipe! (y)

many many years! since I was a kid
Can't find the photos, but to save the old knackered knees, I have installed an electric operated gate valve. I can pull up and dump at the press of a button. Total cost under £50. Might get even lazier and fit a cheapie bluetooth module so I can use my phone etc
