I am learning fast 😊
Hello everyone. I would like to install a 7 inch GPS Radio on 2010 Fiat Ducato chassis. Has anyone does this? Can they recommend a model? Pls advise. Thanks. M

If you mean one with Satnav, rather than that better to go for a unit with Andriod Auto & Carplay so you can link to your phone for navigation apps. Gives more flexibility and no expensive map upgrades.
Easy enough to fit a double DIN unit you just need to cut the central bar out of the surround.

Thank you for your input. I am thinking of buying on Amazon the following:

ANKEWAY Android 9.1 Car Radio 2 DIN Car Stereo 7 Inch 1080P HD Touch Screen + Bluetooth Hands-free Calls + WiFi + GPS Navigation + Rear View Camera + Dual USB + Internet Player

Do you think this will fit and work with the Fiat Ducato Cabin?

Can't find that one have you got a link?

On another thread someone tried fitting an Xtons and it wouldn't fit.
I like the idea of an Andriod unit but they are all cheap/unknown units and it's pot luck what the quality will be like. If I change my Clarion unit it will be for a branded one with Android Auto.

Providing it's made to the correct DIN dimensions it should fit.
At that price it's pot luck you may get a good one but may be crap, personally I would spend 2 or 300 more on a decent one.

I was thinking more like this, Halfords actually the cheapest on this model I found that strange.

Really depends if you want to risk the quality on a cheap one.

I have a Clarion, getting a bit old now it has Satnav but no Android Auto I had it in my last van but it wasn't cheap, looking at replacing it with one of the Kenwood units. Pioneers are good but have a fairly high current draw even in standby.

Like Bobby-gg I fitted a double din Kenwood and am pleased with it. I'm of the opinion that it's good quality and value for money.

I have the Pioneer SPH-DA230DAB in my motorhome and I am extremely pleased with it. I use it with my iPhone/Apple CarPlay but it also has Android Auto. I navigate with WAZE or Google Maps. The maps, music, calls etc are all controlled through the touch screen. I have a preference for WAZE because of the Fiat’s hard to read speedo, WAZE has an on screen display of vehicle speed and speed limit, I have set it to sound a gong if my road speed exceeds the speed limit.

I think the days of head units with built in GPS and stand alone dashboard GPS units are numbered, why tie yourself to one map supplier when with a phone you can swap around as they improve and leap frog each other. The integration of phone with radio is very impressive.

I have always used Pioneer and find the navigation very good.
I currently have the AVIC Z810 DAB-C which is the camper specific model.
If you don’t want to spend that much then as already mentioned go for the Android/Apple Car Play versions.
Something like the Pioneer SPH-DA230DAB will be fine.
I personally wouldn’t go for the Chinese radios.

Thank you Rob for your input on the subject. I checked and the one you recommend does exist on Amazon Spain (y)

Thank you for this. Much appreciate it. I have an old pioneer on my Burstner with Fiat Cab. The sound is good but I am limited. No Bluetooth. I have an separate sat nav. I cant listen to my own music. I do not want to put things on card or memory stick. So your option sounds great. Are you happy with the sound? Does the GPS work well?

I am happy with the sound. The GPS is down to the phone. We have the phone lead that connects to the back of the radio in the dash top glove box and so far it works fine from in there, if GPS reception was poor the cable is long enough to move the phone to the dash top.

Just a question.... does yours have a sat nav?
Yes, uses the android auto with your android phone cannot comment on carlink with apple.

Used it yesterday as a sat nav whilst listening to planet rock via the Internet and all worked perfectly 👍

I had this fitted and it’s excellent! Does either android or apple connectivity, and it’s a dvd/cd player and DAB+, links up to your OEM rearview camera and your tv, signal is great on DAB+ as long as you get a decent aerial and make sure the little box at the bottom of it is properly grounded to earth.

Pioneer AVH-Z3200DAB 6.2" Multimedia Apple.

I started a. Thread about 18 months ago on this called

What have you replaced your crap 13ele stereo head unit with?

I got some good advice, might be worth a look?

Cheers! Keep us posted as I think lots of us are itching to spend our unused beer tokens on things like MoHo stereos, and any advice or experience is always useful!

Cheers!

I have used pioneer avic systems for years, on the whole they are very good, but having used non camper models and camper specific models, apart from being able to input your sizes of your particular vehicle, they are the same, i think the camper specific ones are a waste of money, i have had both and they route exactly the same, even when i have lied to it and told it that we were either massive or tiny, they all still give the same route.
