Coming back to blighty over a week and travelling from Zaragossa rather than via the med and Clermont Ferrand.
Interested in good food (tapas) and the odd night in something more than an aire (swimming pool or decent restaurant) Have dog and the wife is not a great walker but apart from that no great plans and open to suggestions.

For food, try San Sebastian (if on your route - no idea where you’re setting off from!) beautiful city, and the most amazing place for tapas (called pintxos locally.) The tourist office do a leaflet with 4 or 5 pintxos routes.

There’s a (busy) aire by the university- walkable into centre or there’s a bus. Alternatively there’s a site overlooking the sea, which is a fair way to walk but is again on a bus route.

San S appears to be the food Mecca at the moment. Read somewhere that dogs are not allowed on buses so will go for the university aire. Visited there 20+ years ago and can remember parking was difficult so assume it has not got any better. Alex Polizzi did a series of programmes on the Basque country and she visited another Basque town near the Pyrenees which specialised in pintxos.
Travelling up from Catalan region without any clear schedule apart from enjoyment :)

Logrono.

Wow.
Been here for 3 nights now. 60+ bars serving food and drink. Everyone happy; all ages; free car park; even the wife has suggested I might get lucky tonight :).
Off to Pamploma tomorrow, having met some fellow Brits who are suggesting it is almost as good despite Aire charge of 10eu.
Normally barrel down to the Costa Brava via Millau in a couple of days but this soo good.
Big grassy bottom.
