Is there an easy way for an old man to convert the GPS settings used by ACSI to those used by Garmin, many heated moments have developed during our recent trip to Spain and Portugal, so to save my wife the added problem of dealing with her confused husband help would be appreciated, also has anyone had the problem of the Garmin satnav freezing during a journey which can be a problem when you are at a junction with 10 possible exits. Otherwise the trip was fantastic very hot 43 degs which meant lukewarm beer, and warm wine.

I'm not familiar with ASCI Co-ords..

But I do know most Garmins will accept a number if different formats...

It's a case of selecting the format requires from one of the option screens..

This one....

As for freezing and or failing to redraw the screen... yes!..

Also if on a close parallel street to another... that can confuse the unit aswell... espec in cities...

Thanks for that, have tried all the formats but none fit the ACSI coordinates which was the reason for my query, perhaps the newer satnavs have more formats

Can you give us an example of the ACSI coordinates? The coordinates in the ACSI discount card book I have are in the format of degrees, minutes and seconds, which is the the original format for latitude and longitude that has been about for hundreds of years. Every sat nav I have owned for the last 15 years or so has supported that format.

An example of a coordinate in ACSI is N 45 7' 54 the nearest format on the DEZL is 45 7' 54.2" ie the seconds have an extra decimal point, so is this the nearest we can get. Having served with Nelson I realise that they have been around for quite a long time, but Garmin wasn't available in those days

Try putting in the numbers with just a space (no symbols) between them.

If you have a smart phone or ipad there ar quite a few apps that will convert the coordinates for you.
