I don't know about anyone else but trying to get deliveries from our supermarkets here is a nightmare with three weeks not unusual so we decided to try a different route so for anyone else here who have been told to stay home due to health you can try these ideas google local farmers markets some sellers are getting together to run home deliveries to try and keep their business going also try googling local whole sellers who also are starting to supply public because they have no pubs or restaurants to supply also local farm shops. Hope this gives people a few ideas we managed to get food delivery from our local covered market within 3 days the butcher baker and greengrocer in that market have joined together to supply deliverys(y);)

Good post. Just checking you have regiestered on the website link below if you are unable to leave home due to health restrictions.

Most of the supermarkets are now allocating their delivery slots to those registered and those of us allowed out to get our shopping need to visit our local store if not restricted by health issues.

I went there - it seems that Waitrose will only deliver to those listed at the moment - but I don't qualify.
You have to go through all your details before getting to the "do you qualify?" bit and discover whether you are considered "extremely vulnerable" or not. Seems I must wait until they allow registration of just vulnerable. Wasted several minutes of my remaining life.

We've just ordered some stuff from a local company which used to supply hotels and restaurants. They do veg, fruit, milk and butter. Early days for them but I suspect they might broaden their range soon. They are called Naked Veg but are only doing the Plymouth area.

Order placed today and delivery expected on Wednesday.

Have you looked locally?
A lot of local businesses are offering delivery.

These are early days so give them some time to get things in order.

Thanks for that but it only applies to England. My elderly vulnerable parents are in Scotland so its back to logging in to Tesco at midnight to see if I’m lucky enough to snag them a delivery slot for three weeks time.

Do they have Iceland in Scotland? If so then they are only doing deliveries for people over pension age or vulnerable?

We've managed to get a delivery slot for tomorrow afternoon but it didn't come on line until about 10am today. We're both over pension age and suffer COPD but not severe enough to be considered extremely vulnerable.

I don't know if it helps but we live on the Kent coast a long way south of Scotland. We have been shopping with Tesco's home delivery for many years and we are paid up in advance for the weekly delivery saver - and even we are unable to book a delivery slot at the moment. Hopefully our delivery slots are soon to be made available to people like your elderly parents because a visit to the shops now is easy for us and others.

Thanks but the nearest one is 100 miles away! Hopefully the Scottish Government will sort something out soonish. In the meantime theyve got their ‘brexit box’ of just in case items that they still haven’t touched.

I looked at several home deliveries and failed with most, Sainsburys being almost impossible to register with, perhaps they had gone down. The cheapest by some way was Iceland, I know because I tried the same orders with others. On Sunday I checked Iceland out and must have hit a golden moment, for I could choose any day of the week. So I picked this morning and almost everything we ordered, arrived at exactly 10a.m. as requested. Placing it all in plastic bags outside the door and standing well back until we opened the door. He was a bit like a tv commercial, with a jolly smile, wishing us well and departing. This delivery was free.

A lot of our local pubs have turned into pop up shops and take aways.

Same here, amazing how many local pubs have transformed into food delivery businesses. Have to say it’s a real positive in terms of quality. Landlord of a local pub had some mackerel, he smoked it himself and made pate delivered to the door - delicious! Same pub today delivered 2 cornish pasties to our door for lunch. Amongst the best pasties I’ve ever eaten. Lasagna ordered for next Saturday. Maybe one of the benefits of living in a small community? They do wine too!

Having used Sainsbury’s in the past they have my DOB / nectar record and emailed me as age vulnerable and I now get a weekly reserved delivery slot.
We can now avoid physical shopping which helps peace of mind.
I believe Waitrose also offer protected slots for vulnerable adults , no info on that I’m afraid.

It seems that although I am regarded as extremely vulnerable the wife is not and regarded as able to do shopping so we either have to run the risk she may get infected /contaminated and bring it into the house or do as we are doing at the moment looking for alternative suppliers to the big supermarkets

I had that same issue. In the end I got one with MORRISONS, for the 20th of April!!. TESCO`s systems dropped me back to the "wait" queue after 5 min of shopping and I LOST the slot, after sitting for nearly an hour.

A lot of our local pubs have turned into pop up shops and take aways.

My local tried doing it the first weekend, their demand was such that they have had to stop becuase THEY cannot get (Re) supplies!.

I suppose we'll just have to wait for everything to settle into this new way of life and hope we don't starve in the meantime...
It's been a bit of an eye-opener, going on different sites to find food. Some seem to be so disorganised that it's luck if you find what you want. Are people happy to browse and pick from whatever they discover? and why bother when delivery slots are all booked-up? I suppose you need to be ready at midnight, having made your selections, to pounce on the next available delivery day when it's released. Reminds me of the Caravan Club 'Frenzy Day'.

We must be lucky up here in Northumberland as we got our Tesco delivery this morning even toilet roll the only thing not available was veggie mince. We are also on the yearly saver scheme and had them booked for a few weeks but will probably give next weeks up or to my daughter who works for the NHS.

We managed to get a Sainsbury's delivery slot for today *and* managed to checkout the order (initially kept failing at payment stage). When it finally went through, I did a dance round the kitchen.

We could go to the local Waitrose, queue and hope for the best but this way we're keeping away from other peeps better.

I'm in Scotland as well and although I had a phone call from my GP it appears there is limited official help at the moment.

I have noticed that Asda and Tesco delivery vans are around, usually they don't deliver out here. I will have to investigate how to register with them - usually I don't get home deliveries as I am too concerned about cross contamination with gluten.

Obviously our issues are further complicated by our diets but we do have our usual larder of goods available, still reasonably stocked after the winter and the b* advice. I should get a couple of kilos of gluten free flour this weekend with the balance of my regular monthly order in mid-May :)

Just tried Morrisons.
I'm in a queue (to register?) of some 40,000 and 1/2hr wait. Good job I've got time on my hands...

They are not consistent then, have spent ages on the phone trying to get through to them and finally this morning managed a five minute conversation with a recorded voice asking for my DoB and my nectar card number and then informed that it would take up to two working days to check and then they MIGHT be able to offer me a delivery slot.
Very fed up with them, Mike the MD writes to me using my first name and his company provide a recorded question and answer system for a regular customer and ask for two days to check whether I am indeed elderly and at risk, not impressed to be honest. local Co-oP and farm shop getting most of my business currently.

Just found out that Asda will do a home delivery from their store 75 miles away. Now just have to get a slot!

I’ve taken the view that I am fit and able to go shopping so will not take a delivery slot from those who are more vulnerable. Seems to be lots of houses getting deliveries where they are in the same position as me but choosing deliveries. Delivery slots are unable to keep up with demand so should go to the most vulnerable first.

Lovely Stoosal but I am having trouble getting food delivered to my parents in their late eighties with health problems as stated further up the thread. I should perhaps have quoted that again but I was so excited to find Asda would do a delivery despite being 75 miles away. I myself am several hundred miles away.

Sister is still in the village where I was born, local council have set up a delivery service as has the local shop.
might need a bit of research but unless in an extremely isolated are hope there may be something available. try contacting the local church or SWI (Scottish Women's Institute) for help.

Stange. Either I dreamt it or I've seen their van around this way recently. And I've only been out twice since we got back 10 days ago. Darkish green van with striking graphics on the rear quarter?

I just cancelled my delivery slot as I'm still able to go out and get stuff. Left it for a more vulnerable person to have the slot.

I've just checked again and they are the Nearly Naked Veg company. Perhaps they have a naturist competitor in Somerset? :)

Perhaps I dreamt it. I do have strange dreams sometimes. They're always fully clothed dreams, of course.
