We are about to collect our new (panel) van and the dealer has offered to fit a Gemini 931 TMH Cat 1 alarm.

Are they any good?

(I know all about VanBitz and that's what I would do if the Gemini is not up to scratch).

We have a Gemini fitted and it has performed well. Also gains us a discount on the insurance.

Even a thousand pounds alarm is not going to stop them breaking any window and picking up any valuable in you have left lying about in thirty seconds

Agreed ... but it's an insurance requirement

We had one fitted (got it for 'free' as part of haggling with the dealer) and it works. No issues, apart when I open the garage door without realising its on and annoy the neighbours. My only gripe is I think the red flashing light when armed is a bit hidden and subtle. I'd like one that screams 'Alarm set!!!

Don't leave valuables lying around then!

Definitely The only really valuable items in my van are the smart phones and they go out with us.
Any thing else is simply well hidden, in fact my safe is a Tupperware box ----- under a bottom drawer in the kitchen

Let's hope there are no motorhome thieves reading this eh.

This is why the Van Bitz Growler has one internal LED and three additional waterproof LED’s externally, daylight bright ( if a LED is a deterrent pretty useless if it only is visible in the dark, or can’t be seen when the blinds are closed)

Yes alarm luddites say nothing will stop a smash and grab if your stupid enough to leave valuables lying around on view, the trick is to make sure your system “is obviously alarmed” as if there are ten vans overnighting and nine don’t appear to be alarmed, you just need to be the one that “looks” protected

Also of course, is you have been an idiot and left stuff on display the five sirened Growler does make a massive impact on the amount of time a thief is prepared to search through your motorhome for your Tupperware.

Everyone is different and one persons needs or opinions should be taken as chapter and verse.

Frankly, I couldn’t fit my expensive ‘toys’ in a Tupperware box, I love nice things, technology and gadgets which was a major decision maker when I originally set the spec for the Growler system, make it the loudest system on the market, and make it the most visible system on the market so thieves move on to the van next door!

After all like the African safari guide said when a fat American asked him if he could outrun an angry Lion he said “I don’t need to run faster than the Lion, I just need to out run YOU!
