I'm a newbie
Looking to fit a gaslow11kg x 2 refillable system to our pvc when and if we get it.Have seen the alugas system now.It appears to be a bit more expensive but alot less weight so it seems a no brainer to go with that. The gaslow seems more popular so am I missing something and is there something I should know before shelling out my cash.Your views please.

It's a personal choice with the options you've stated. If your payload is critical then Alugas is ideal but I had Gaslow fitted and very pleased. Bear in mind, what you're replacing and that weight anyway. There are cheaper systems too but I've never regretted having Gaslow as other people don't have regrets fitting their choice.

We went with Alugas as our gas locker is behind the rear wheel so every kilo is important! Careful measurement of the locker and after a discussion with Chris Wise at Autogas 2000 I managed to get a 14kg cylinder in with capacity for another if we decide thats not enough! Oh and Funsters get a discount!!

...and we went for 2 x 11kg Gasit. No regrets either. A fair saving on Gaslow too for a kit that does the same job. Bought from Sail and Trail.

We went for the Alugas over Gaslow when we went for two 11kg bottles. I can’t remember the exact weights but we had a new (R67) 11kg Gaslow and it weighed more than the claimed weight. Fitting the Alugas bottles was a fraction under two stones (12kg) lighter than the two Gaslow. Worth the little bit extra cost for us.

We went for a single 14kg Alugas to start, then have option to get a second Alugas or use a regular Calor bottle in parallel as situations demand.

Alugas was my choice and no regrets about spending a little more.

If weight saving is important then I'd go for the Alugas, but if it isn't then Gasit have a great deal on their 11kg plus bottles, and we get a 5% discount too.

Just as good as Gaslow and a lot cheaper at the moment.

Thanks one and all.As it's a pvc with most of the weight over the back axle the alugas route sounds a good idea.

Alugas cost more than Gasit and Gaslow but they have the leak stop system incorporated? No need for an extra £45 fast flow shut off device?
I don't think the other makes have this?
(Apologies if I am wrong).

The gasit plus has the rupture protection feature if that's what you mean. Pretty sure the gaslow has it too. When I was buying ours apart from weight there wasn't much between all of them TBH. Except the standard Gasit which AFAIK doesn't have quite as many features but still perfectly up to the job.

Have you considered an underslung tank?

Alugas every time!! ??

Yes did consider an underslung tank.I'm sure they are perfectly safe just a bit concerned with punctures and damage. That's me I'm afraid.

Might be worth waiting until you get your PVC and then getting it weighed, including individual axle weights, that way you can decide based on the actual weights rather than guessing and paying more for something you perhaps don't need.

Have you thought about what filler your going to use? I went for the small square one that Gasit do as it was much easier to install in the rear bumper and corner moulding of our previous PVCs:

Yes an exterior filler so I'm not opening any doors.

I have Gaslow ,and im very happy with it.Its the best thing I have added to my Motorhome.
People will always recommend what they have had fitted, but for me I had no weight issue!

We have Gaslow, it works have had no issues and weight is not an issue, even when full with fuel, water and Gas. Th only reason we know this we loaded the Van up took it to a weigh bridge and all is good.

Just saw Jo662 post and agree, whatever you have I am sure it supplies the Gas equally well, the regulator is Truma so I guess what ever tank is fitted the Truma regulator would work just the same. Also I suspect if a MoHo is sailing close to its max payload it may matter to have lighter cylinders.

Underslung no quibbles, that’s me. Weight distribution, low centre of gravity and space saving. Don’t worry about a puncture, it will dent your floor before de cylinder will bend, and the brackets can take some of the impact if necessary. Also this set up, will allow to keep all high pressure outside the vehicle and just bring the low pressure in.
