T'other day me mates fixed a problem with the Dometic 3 way fridge so that it can run on gas :)

But it seems to have used rather a lot since ???

I've had the fridge on gas for 3 days.

Last night was cold here so we had gas heating on all night. It's a Heatsource HS2000 jobby.

Up to that we had 2/3 full propane 6.5 Kg bottle. It's now empty :(

Should that little usage use about 4-5 Kgs ?

Answers on a postcard please. Or type here if easier

Strewth mate.. I would start checking for leaks !

The heating will consume that amount overnight I'd have thought.

Ours is pretty insignificant. Looking at the flame it's only like a gas cigarette lighter.

Now the heater is altogether different.

Aha, so it looks like the heater was the culprit :(

It was on for 12 hours.

been there done that, you need to secure the gas hose at both ends with proper hose clamps.

Heating and fridge will chomp gas like it was going out of fashion!!!

This is where refillable systems payback when gas is used as the primary heat source. 59.7ppl at Asda :xThumb:

So 5 kilos of LPG (10 litres)for around £6 instead of around £20? got to look into this, possibly at a tank that will go into the existing 2 bottle storage locker as there's little room elsewhere.

You can buy refillable bottles to use instead of calor bottles and fit in the existing bottle store. Look for gasit or Gaslow. I have gasit and it only took a couple of hours to fit including the filler etc. Much easier than fitting a fixed tank, which are usually designed to be underslung to the chassis

thanks Andy and Peter, looking at costs of a fitted tank against double bottle systems and filling availability abroad.

£340 for twin 11kg bottle kit delivered. variable depending on required length of fill hose.

Bugger,, did not see the bit where you had the heating on all night.. Thought you had turned it on and it had died soon after.

We was at a Funster Valentines day meet a few years ago.. Did the same ( you soon learn LOL !! ) and emptied two bottle in two days !

I have single 11kg bottle and a filler inside the locker, all from Gasit. I use a calor as a spare in case I ever run out. Cost me £189, including adaptors for all of Europe and was delivered in less than 24 hours.

I would advise bottles rather than a tank as the installation can be moved & re-installed in a replacement van in the future. Not so easy with a tank.

After a few years of never needing the spare, it now lives at home and the space is used for the Cadac.

Single 11kg "Gas-it" bottle does us.. Fill up whenever you see LPG/GPL sign !! And room for the Cadac beside it !! Loverly.

Unless your name is ANDY (techno100)!
