Hi,
just recently bought Hymer from Germany, a 2008 524sl, the bottles of gas fitted, are propane a grey colour , no name to identify them, will i be able to exchange them in France /Spain don't know if the fitments will be the same?

Grey sound like German bottles and the fittings will be different for both France and Spain and the bottles are not exchangeable. You will need to buy a new bottle and reg. for France .. if you go to Spain and it runs out, need to buy a Spanish bottle and regulator..

long term, refillable bottles are the way to go .. either Gasit , Gaslow. or Alugas .. then you can fill up in any country at any Autogas outlet..


If only going abroad for a few weeks then Calor propane either 6kg or if you can get them in, 2 x 13kg propane.. (red bottles)
