We have an old Swift Sundance 600B. 2003.

we’re now looking at getting a front and rear dashcam.
we will be fitting it ourselves.
we don’t have a set budget for one but we only have a very small rear window.

and already have a high level rear parking cam fitted. Not on theses images but above the high brake light.

any suggestions please..

A friend of ours has numberplate cams back and front which seem quite successful if a bit low for my taste.

I can use the iPad but it only works in one direction front or rear.
was not on option I want as I use it for navigation. And it can do both but not very well and would still need another for the rear..

Have the nextbase single 552gw forward facing finind it sufficient for my needs good cam imo

I did think of just the front but if someone goes up the rear of my Moho it will not be said i reversed.

I fitted Nextbase front and back in two cars and had to take them both out as it interfered massively with the radio reception via the heated rear window element which doubled up as an aerial. A well known problem and not easy to overcome. Not likely to be a problem with a van of course.

i was hoping for a purpose made external rear cam and the internal dash cam as a set but can’t see anything so far.

Been out and tried a mock up rear cam.
I won’t be able to use the fly screen or the blackout blinds. So any other options anyone.

Just tried a local company and they say it’s between £ 400. And £ 500 fitted.
is this about right never said what the system was though. Just hard wired front and rear external dash cam set

Looking at that, it looks as though the rear camera is connected to the front camera by cable (USB?).
Not a massive cabling distance in a car but could be quite a long cable run in a Motor Home.
I was expecting wireless.

Edit:
"The Nextbase Rear Window Camera offers all-round protection to guard against everything from tailgaters and rear end impacts, to knocks and bumps in a car park. It uses a 140° ultra-wide viewing angle to capture the whole road behind, including the pavements on both sides. The Rear Window Camera can easily be fitted to your front facing Nextbase Dash Cam via the supplied 6m long cable, which can easily be hidden under the roof lining out of view. It uses a fully adjustable magnetic mount to give you total flexibility. Using Neodymium magnets, the table tennis ball size camera is discreet and can be used at any angle. Our car rear camera is the perfect gadget to keep you safe."

I wired mine (which feeds my mirror mounted screen) with a decent quality screened cable x2, and it's fine, one for the rear view and one for the parking view). A lot of the Chinese wireless ones are best avoided, unless it is impractical.

Asked Nextbase support.
"
The 6 metre cable is the maximum we'd recommend using with that camera. You cannot currently get any extension cables - this length is the maximum to ensure the correct required power supply to the camera.

I am looking at dashcams for the 2002 Ducato camper, with the idea that it will also be used for a rearview mirror, this looks like the only one that ticks all the boxes.

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/384905510575

It has a good-sized screen to use as a (camera) rearview mirror, also the front camera is separate from the display, most I have seen like this, the camera is in the back of the display, but on the ducato the mirror is out of the wiper coverage, also there is a screen printed grid around the mirror fixing spreading out to the sides, so the front camera needs to be located lower down or to the side.

In addition, most rear camera's only have a 5-6m cable (in fact so does this one) but they can supply an 8m one for an extra £20.

Has anyone had any experience with one of these or even toguard in general.

Any comments or suggestions welcome.
