We have a Carthago C-Compactline with a normal lower wall vent and a roof top cowl so no upper wall vent to place fans in.
I haven't explored the possibility of putting fans near the top as it would be impossible without removing the cowl and that's something I don't really want to do.
The discussion therefore on where to optimally place the fans in the lower vent area is interesting.

Now then, as my Dad used to say, does that mean vertically on the vent itself or horizontally directly under the fins?If you can place them to blow directly onto the radiating fins, ideally from below, you will get the most effective cooling.
Where the air enters the cavity and where it exhausts the cavity will sort itself out.

Often not possible, so I work on, setting the fans to turn on when the ambient temperature is 25°, always worked well for me.You need to position the fans so they are not blowing onto or interfering with the burner flame.
Ideally, you need to measure the temperature at the condenser pipework to control the fans coming on and going off at the optimum temperatures.
Horizontally would be better but again not possibly in mine & couldn't mount them on the grill as the winter cover goes inside the grill. Now then, as my Dad used to say, does that mean vertically on the vent itself or horizontally directly under the fins?

Why bother with all this? From the other discussion:
From Lenny “Most cooling fans are more efficient drawing air out of a cabinet”
From Lenny “Not as efficient as pulling it out”
From Lenny “I give up, you dont understand the design of equipment cooling fans”
