Hi All,

Wonder if anyone can help. We are out in the motorhome traveling through Germany and our fridge has decided to stop working.
It's a domestic rmdt8505. After switching on (either through ehu or gas), the blue operator light flashes and is accompanied by a beep for 20 seconds or so. The beep disappears but the blue light continues to flash.

Can anyone help please

Is the door shutting properly ?
Wipe around the seal to make sure there's nothing stopping it shutting.
Then close the door tightly manually and secure with a piece of gaffer tape.
Mine did similar and that worked.
Not the permanent solution but worth a try.

Hiya, yes, both freezer door and fridge door shutting securely, have also held both closed and the alarm still occurs every two minutes or so.
Thanks for trying to help

Could it be the contacts that operate the light or something like that? It is exactly the same as my 8 series fridge if I do not close the door properly

The Service manual for your fridge is in the Resources Section....

It is the 13th article down. The troubleshooting chapter may identify the problem.

As said above, our fridge flashes a blue light after 2 minutes if the door is left open, or more accurately, not fully closed.

Good Luck

The problem can be condensation on the printed circuit of the door light switch / locking catch the answer seems to be to dry the PSB . it is a known problem and some people have managed to dry the switch with a hair drier.
If you google - Dometic Refridgerator Bulletin R84-A - the information can be found at myrvworks, com website.
Also Have you tried pressing the reset button ( ! ) on the right of the control panel

Assume you have switched the fridge to the correct energy source, are you on gas.Have you got gas at the cooker hob.

Normally with a fault condition the red warning triangle at the right hand end of the control panel lights up or frashes.

Its probably just the door contact switch not making. Remover the cover and rebend the stainless steel strip that operates the switch.

Agree with above, experienced the same on ours a couple of days ago, open door and where the door catch and interior light are you will see a white push on electrical (12 volt) connector, pull that off and with a piece of kitchen roll dry the contact area, this will most probably cure it, if not the clear plastic cover for this assembly clips on, remove that and then the whole PCB can be pulled off and dried out.

Cheers guys, I have taken the switch inside fridge out and am now drying PCB with fan. It didn't look damp, but who knows.
I'll let you know shortly if that has worked. Thanks again

Is this the switch that can sometimes cause problems? See photo

Hi, yes, I have tried using both gas and ehu and the same symptoms occur.

Thanks to everyone who helped with suggestions. The fridge is now back up and running minus the annoying beeps! It seemed to be the PCB that needed drying. The annoying beeps have stopped and the beers are chilled :-)
