Fresh Smell for Toilet?

Reflecting upon diets and note that horse's faeces don't smell bad, nor do those of rabbits.
A dog's, however, doesn't smell as nice to a human nose; due perhaps to a diet higher in protein?
Personally, I am not of the vegetarian persuasion, but wonder if any of the "carrot crunchers" out there could say if their droppings smell any sweeter than those of their carniverous colleagues? Are there any vegetarian site members who have observed that friends who eat meat have smellier poo??

Never thought I would be answering a post on this subject but yes, as a vegetarian of some 20 years I can vouch for the vast improvement in poo pong and to answer the next question - yes, farts as well, worth becoming a veggie just for that benefit!

Kinda sums it up , seems to be a few vans with a SOG

Fit a SOG and then you will not need any chemicals at all to your loo cassette. (y)
I had the unfortunate experience to have Bent down in a confined Aire in France as the occupant use the toilet the Charcoal filter must have been absent in the SOG it was all I could do to stop retching .

What is a nice smelling chemical additive that I could use for the cassette toilet? I read on here awhile ago about a nice smelling additive but cannot find it now. Anyone recommend one?

TA Steve
Do you spray toilet before every flush?Never had trouble with smells

We had a SOG for three years whilst full timing. Two things - it did indeed stink when emptying and the noise of the fan coming on was a nuisance at night. Also, we didn’t notice any smell inside or outside the van. We haven’t fitted one in any van since, due to the first two problems.

interesting ,,i have a system on mine that has a filter and fan under the toilet that comes on when flushing not sure if its part sog or what ,,works ok i suppose,,
That is the Thetford equivelant of a SOG doesn't work as well and the expensive filters need changing g every 4 weeks.

SOG fan is very quiet compared to a Thetford one, never noticed the smell when emptying but had vans with SOG's for 15 year so probably imune to it.

Easily replaceable filter Filter lasts an average season’s use ,,,wont be replacing every 4 weeks ,,not at £20 a poo ,,,sorry pop ,,:ROFLMAO:

My husband has the hearing sensitivity of a Pipistrelle bat 🦇, so any noise at all wakes him - we are probably not a good example! He also has no sense of smell & it was other people that alerted us to the smell when emptying!

I still put a splash of Lavender bio washing liquid in the bog with a Sog.

Yep we pop an Aldi Bio liquid tab in to help with the smell when emptying, totally unnecessary from a functional point of view but more so a practical one for me emptying it. 😲

Think the last thing is the noise from the fan😉, someone going to the toilet at night makes more noise getting out of bed , opening the door , clunking the blade on the pan open , flushing the toilet via the pump , clunking the blade shut , shutting the lid , closing the door and getting back into bed 😲 . The fan only comes on when the blade is open , and goes off once it’s closed , if it wasn’t then the SOG was wired up wrong , or you left the blade open 😲.
