greetings one and all
just joined this site and have done my introductions,
So, quick back story I am a senior lecturer for a private college and I work with difficult students teaching motor vehicle engineering, the place I work at had a Renault Master Mini Bus 14 seater that had been sitting for 5 years and they decided it had to go so I took it off their hands cheap as chips £300. Being classed as a key worker I was able to take it to the workshops and plan the build, after a day of fully servicing it filling it with fresh diesel a new battery and a full check out I got it running and it runs really smooth.
So I started this build about 6 months ago and basically gutted the van pictures will be included, It has been fully lined with several layers of thermal insulation 3 layers of acoustic insulation all of the inner trim has been ripper out and recovered with new trim cloth, I have built a baulk head separating the driers cab from the living area, I threw out the tacky van seats and adapted seats from a Peugeot convertible for the front.
I had discovered that because it had been standing for so long mice had feasted on the wiring harness and the sound proofing trim, leaving behind several tonnes of mouse poo! (nasty job cleaning this all out) but the damage that the little B****ds caused has now been corrected, I personally hate dirty oily engine bays so I ripped everything out cleaned it all out and resprayed it so it looks really nice and presentable now with all new rubbers and trim.
Bringing the project up to date, all of the insulation and lining work has been completed in the living area and a nice new silver grey carpet has been installed, the baulk head has been completed and lined a new sky light has been fitted and some of the LED lighting has been wired in and working.
I have a blank canvas to now plan the living area, the plan of action is a sliding double bed a kitchen area TV and entertainment area trying to keep as much space as possible.
The loo will be found a home in storage under the sliding bed 1.jpg2.jpg3.jpg4.jpg1.jpg2.jpg3.jpg4.jpg5.jpg6.jpg7.jpg8.jpg9.jpg10.jpg20210123_131600.jpg1.jpg2.jpg3.jpg4.jpg5.jpg6.jpg7.jpg8.jpg9.jpg10.jpg20210123_131600.jpg20210123_131834.jpgdash1.jpgdash2.jpg1.jpg2.jpg3.jpg4.jpg5.jpg6.jpg7.jpg8.jpg9.jpg10.jpg20210123_131600.jpg20210123_131834.jpgdash1.jpgdash2.jpgfront1.jpgfront2.jpgfront3.jpgfront4.jpgLED lighting.jpgorigonal 1.jpgorigonal.jpgrebuilt front end.jpg

Do you have all the cables, pipes etc in place to suit the location of each where it goes? Or is a modular design? I guess no overhead cupboards? Lights are in the way, no vents skylight etc.
How you going to deal with mud and dust? With a carpeted floor.

Hello
All pipes and cable runs have been fitted on the underside of the vehicle tucked away in trunking, there is an adjustable skylight that I have fitted and as for the mud and dust, my good lady is OCD on cleaning and it will only ever be used by the wife and myself so care is always taken when it comes to being clean.
Lord vader

You got it covered, look forward to see the full build. There is no wrong or right way, just personal preferences. Great effort, and thumbs up on insulation.

I can never understand why so many self converters have a bulk head behind the front seats, when turned around they are the beat seats to sit in rather than some upright self made one.

It’s a personal thing, I have half way up. Cab is NOT living quarters it’s a separate purpose, and want some divide to keep things separate. The cab can not be insulated like the rear, and I do t want the oil vapour from cooking landing on my dash. I could go on, we all see things different.

Nice what size engine is it?

Beware the 2.2 likes to each it's turbo and then the engine!

What layout are you going for?

They all seem to have a dented sill but no rust! Thanks to galvanized bodies.

Here is mine currently having a new engine fitted!

Cheers James
