Years ago we past through a French village /town. All the buildings were of a timber framed tudor style and I think red and black, although it was years ago and memory isn't what it used to be.
It was probably Northern Fance although not sure.
Often wonder where it was.
Sound familiar to anyone?

Similar to the OP, I remember coming across a small medieval village somewhere north of Paris, in the days when I toured by car with the missus. It was a stunning little unspoiled jewel, with a complete defensive wall surrounding it and a fortified gate as the only way in or out.

Never been able to find it again.

Clearly slightly off-topic but we’ve found so many French towns/cities that are crammed full of tudor type buildings, walls, moats etc.
Currently spending 3 nights on a municipal site (€13 per night) at St Rome du Tarn. The village is simply stunning. Narrow, winding medieval alleys, squares, churches etc.
And we’ve found many such villages without specificallylooking for them.

The ones you come across by accident are often the most enjoyable.

I saw quite a few of those in Northern France, unfortunately I can't remember exactly where I was, some were in really good condition and some very dilapidated and falling down but i was surprised to see them and wondered if they went back to when Brittany was ruled by the English.

From the photos I see none of the above is it.
Ah well.

The place I remember, you drove through the middle and all the main square was tudor style, must have been on a main route as we had a caravan at the time and stuck to the main routes.
Probably by passes it now
