I wouldn't personally sleep in a motorway service area, although if we had to I've made certain you can't pull any of our doors open easily even if you bust the locks. All the doors have webbing straps anchored to interior walls, and I hang a couple of drain lifting keys on the hab door strap so if it snapped it would make a God awful row. The cab doors are held tight with cable padlocks.

That said, the only second-hand account I've heard of theft and purported gassing (that's what the French Police told them) was a couple my wife knows who were staying in a tent on a French campsite. It wasn't helped by hubby leaving his wallet and valuables in a very obvious place on a table. I bet he's still not heard the last of that.

Me too but not for 20 years :whistle::p

I guess you have been lucky and these things only happen to a few people . I personally would not sleep in a motorway Aire for the simple reason that I know I would not sleep a wink if I tried.
