Has anyone living full time in France got any information on the ease of returning occasionally to the UK after December.
I expect that as they would still have a UK passport then it won't be a problem, but I may be wrong.

You are corect any British Citizens can return to the UK anytime and for periods as long as they want.

You would need to check French Regulations as to how long you can remain away, in one visit and cumulatively, without changing your status there.

You don't even need the passport to enter. You just have to be able to prove you are a British citizen or have the 'permanent right to abode'.You only need a UK passport ,in date, to leave.

Been in France now for 15+ years and until Brexsh*t no worries, now, who knows. With Doris in charge everything is as clear as mud. The "official" position of the British Embassy in Paris is and has been since the start of the fiasco "no-one can say with any level of certainty what will or may happen in the future, as the government (s) have not as yet come to any firm decisions, nothing is on or off the table, one can ascertain the status on any given day but that is not guaranteed for the next or following days" ... all Lemmings please form an orderly queue, off to Dover cliffs we go.:LOL:

Dominic hasn't decided yet and moggy's hedge fund with Vladimir must not be risked by any back pedalling.

It would be funny if it wasn’t so pathetic. We have been in and out of France for nearly 20 years, pretty much 6 months in each. We put the house on the market last year, but we are now thinking that it would be logical to take residency and worry about selling the house if and when it happens. We are too old to worrit about what may happen in a few years time. I’m surprised that no one has tripped Dominic up by now, until someone does we are back being mushrooms and not in charge of our own futures.

I have heard it would be beneficial to become resident prior to the withdrawal date Jan 1st 2021 so you won't lose any health benefits?

Yes, current benefits as an EU citizen such as pension rights and health cover, including life-long pension increases are only being guaranteed if you are legally resident before the end of the year. You'll also need to show a higher income level than present if you arrive after 31/12/20, too. I believe it's about €800 per person per month at present - as a Third Country National it is €1200.

Decisions need to be made....

& here the maximum they can ask of an EU citizen is 6080€ /year which is minimum non-contributory spanish pension amount .As no-eu it would go up probably to the same as yanks require which is $75,000/person /year. so about 50k £'s
