Got the fridge running and bought a replacement switch.

However something really odd happened for the second time in a couple of weeks.

The first time, possibly on hookup (can't remember for sure) i tried starting it and the dash went nuts, idiot lights going out and the everything on the dash went, including the clock resetting. investigation found the fuse next to the battery next to the big ampage fuse had blown. (someone previously suggested this was linked to the fridge)

then yesterday:
Plugged into Hookup, i tried to start the engine to roll us a few inches higher up the levelling ramps.
the dash went nuts, idiot lights flickering and everything went dead.

unplugged the hook up jiggled all the fuses in the box under the passenger seat, checked the fuses next to the battery and gave the contacts a clean and everything is fine again....

Can anyone unpack the symptoms?
Thanks in advance.

No problem starting engine on my two previous and current van when on hook up, fridge on 22v, 240v or gas.
So what would cause the van electrics to go haywire when 240v applied to the van?
I assume all is well when ignition is off, how about when the ignition is turned on but not cranking the engine?
Does the engine start? Is everything OK then?
Has all this happened only after the work done on the fridge?
Is it possible you have mixed up the 12v and 240v wiring, remember 240v earth is actually 240v negative. Getting these wrong can cause 120v to be applied across things. (I am not clever enough to know why, something to do with centre tapping between pos and neg?)

I had this on a Renault master after I had disconnected the battery to change for a new one
The reason mine was that the ECU had not reset itself properly
As you haven’t changed if this is your problem then could it be caused by a dodgy earth
Well that’s where I would start
