Hi

Is there a toll tag for Motorhomes over 3.5tons that anyone would recommend? We only go a couple of times a year in the camper but have one for the car and love the ease of going through without needing a credit card.

Thanks

Mike

the short answer is no not easily. however, the scanners work on physical size not weight.

however, i believe you need to show your vehicle V5 to get the tag

How big is your van? our son uses our tag on his estate car and I use it on our van. so if you already own a tag i don't think it is registration fixed. Our emovis is not.
provided your van is not outside the dimensions and not tag axle you are very likely to pass as class 2.

The French toll system on only gets interested if you weigh more than 4.5t so use whatever the 3.5t motorhomes use.

and you are above 3m in height. but, i have seen motorhomes with overcabs challenge that at the toll booth and get it changed to class 2.

I use www.tolltickets.co.uk for my three toll tags, one for France, one for Spain/Portugal and one for Italy. I’am 7.5t and find it so much easier with having the toll tags.

So we travelled with out atmb tag, used it in the car and the a class (>3.5) some booths would charge you as class 2 some as class 3 but either ways it worked perfectly fine.

I don’t use a tag because I would be a class 4 same as HGV. Being under 3 meters height we are classed as class 2 It’s a 5 ton tag . Pensioners have to count the pennies or euros in this case!

Hi. I had my motorhome uprated from 3.5t to 3.65t just to give me some extra allowance. It was my first purchase and didn't know at the time of the knock on effect on tolls etc. If it actually ways less than 3.5t can i get a certificate from a weighbridge or somewhere else which shows this? Or would it be irrelevant as the V5 shows 3.65t?

The French tolls are not managed by weight or axles, even though these are parameters that you should be complying with, the only parameter in practice being measured is height. <3m no problem, >3m and it don’t work on the majority. It’s really as simple as that!

We too have been clocked as Class 4 because of the extra rear axle, ie, the same rate as a 44 Tonner. What a load of bollocks. :(
We are 2 x axles now, but Class 3 due to height.
Thankfully, we rarely use tolls.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Ours was 3.65t and is now 4.25t but is physically the same dimensions as the identical 3.5t version at exactly 3m high with the aircon on the roof.
We didn’t have the moho when I initially obtained our Fulli tag, so I used my wife’s small Kia Soul registration and then changed it in the app after we took delivery - takes all of 2 minutes to do. Never been charged other than Classe 2 n Granve, Spain, Portugal and Italy.

We are a tag axle 28ft long, plus another axle for the car trailer at a further 14ft long, 5t and just over 3m high and we are only ever charged class2 in both France/Spain/Portugal using toll tag by fulli
