Has anybody used these and are they worth the cost of the book?

We are looking to travel around the WW1 sites in France etc. and thought this might prove useful.

We used FP for the first time this year and loved it - stayed at some lovely vineyards in Cognac and Monbazillac (amongst others), hoping to stop at another couple of places on the way home in September. But I don't think there are that many in Picardie, so might not be as useful for visiting WW1 sites.

FP was the inspiration for Britstops and the various other schemes.

As already posted they tend to be vineyards and are often in out of the way places. Not sure how much coverage there is in the North.

As with Britstops although there is no obligation to buy anything the idea of the scheme is that you spend some money with the hosts. It shouldn't be looked at just as a list of places to camp for free.

if you do look back at old threads you may see the main critiscem of them is finding them as in the books up till a couple of years back it was very poor directions but that has been put right now as they have started putting co ords in and they are are also listed in www.searchforsites.co.uk so you can get the directions there.
