Morning all; anyone still traveling to France or through France and beyond over the next few weeks? As I see it providing you’re responsible and accept the 14 day isolation there isn’t a real issue other than perhaps if you’re traveling through France and the neighbouring country decides to apply restrictions. Just interested how many of you guys are traveling to mainland Europe during the next 2-3 weeks

Has to be one of the best times to tour the continent right now. If i wasn't committed at home, me and Siân would definitely be away enjoying the space (y)

Need to get the dog spayed, going to get the pet passport sorted at the same time and pretty sure we will take off over the channel after Christmas - or maybe before if our family Christmas (20 people minimum) is cancelled due to the blooming virus.

We're already there. We're staying aware and social distancing just like we would be sat at home, but the sun is shining! 👍😎
You've got to be somewhere! Might as well be there.

We will be off shortly, first stop Germany, then we’ll have a think and make choices at the time.

We're booked on the tunnel early hours of the 11th .. see how it goes.. we would prefer South of France .. but we don't want to isolate on return so as things stand we will go to Germany .. obviously nothing booked so we'll suck it and see on the day.
If Germany joins the list or things change we will probably go to Wales or Scotland ..

We'll soon need double decker pitches in the UK 🤔 or high rise pitches 🤣

Double decker pitches! You’d want to be on top to protect yourself from all those grey water dribblers.

That sounds reason enough to cancel Christmas. 7-8 is enough for us. Did I say 'enough' I meant 'too many.'

Been in Europe for 10 days now. Four in Germany and now wending our way south, Carcassonne on Wed or Thursday. Keeping aware and managing the risks as well as we can. All of the sites and aires have been well prepared, clean and sanitised, everyone with masks where appropriate. Some on this forum think we are crazy for being here at all, I was going crazy at home!

Still got Spain, Portugal and Spain again in the next 30 days or so, before settling down until October ready to head home.

We’ll be back to Blighty in November, hopefully everything will have quietened down by then.

Good for you, better to be happy over there than miserable over here. Have a brilliant time

We are still not sure , booked 16th sept , want to do mid rural France on 90% aires , no prob with Q14, but with no health insurance , both of us mid 70's with slight health issues.
Currently sitting on the fence , really want to go , watching things carefully & will make decision nearer the time ,.
Plan B is stay local use THS's in Devon & Cornwall & rebook tunnel for next year

Of course there are a few on here who wouldn't be anywhere else ;) ;)

Still undecided, we are booked on Eurotunnel on the 30th and returning on the 22nd September
Had been planning on watching 4or 5 stages of the TDF but with the FCO advise not to travel and Red Pennant insurance have said they won’t cover us for either breakdown or any health cover I’m a bit jittery 😬
I do however have Fiat Assist for two years from new and our motorhome is only 18 months old so I could rely on that but there is still the worry of no personal insurance

I had a similar quandary as Fidget. But in truth we have had less interface with others in the last 10 days as I would have had at home!

Breakfast in an outdoor cafe yesterday, and chatted at a distance and wearing masks with several site managers. All fuel at self service card pumps, hand sanitizer on the dash for immediate use. Supermarket once early am, 4 people in there and everyone with a mask.

Not much difference to home except lots of great views and weather, new places for Barney the Collie to sniff and play.

I see the risk of infection as very much the same as being at home, though of course I’ll be relying on the French or Spanish health system should the worst happen! At least I’ll keep my sanity!

Social distancing Crete style
Due back end of September will work out how to get back nearer the time 🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷

We were planning to go in September. Very flexible, when and where and as we are both not working, werent bothered bout the 14 day quarantine! Until I read that quarantine virtually puts you under house arrest! I know it wont be policed, but it says you should not leave your abode. That means relying on someone else to take our dog for a walk, coz even that is not allowed.😩
I dont want to creep out in the dead of night, like a cat burglar to walk the dog, so made the decision to scrap overseas this year.
I hope those that go have a great time and only put photos up when its raining or any disasters, so I dont get jealous😀

It seems socially irresponsible, not to mention the risk to your personal health.
In what way is it socially irresponsible? I don’t have the virus, nor does my wife, my dog or my van. So unless you know something I don’t???

Would it be as irresponsible if I were visiting my mum or my sister, filling my car at the garage, paying the window cleaner, accepting Amazon parcels, going to the supermarket, where btw the staff don’t wear masks?

It’s risk management, perhaps you just haven’t understood all of yours or maybe your tolerance for risk is very low. Either way, unless you are locked in your house with zero contact from outside, you are at risk too.

I’m managing mine carefully!

I agree entirely; I doubt if anyone on here is socially irresponsible, it is all about risk assessment and management.

At the risk of having my views shot down, I have to say that I can’t understand why anyone would want to travel anywhere in the present circumstances. It seems socially irresponsible, not to mention the risk to your personal health.
Not wishing to have your views shut down, as youre entitled to them, but I wonder if your views would be the same if you were here and my views would be different if I were where you are

I'm genuinely interested in how you can be sure you & your wife don't have the virus, are you both being tested every day ?

If so please enlighten us, where we can obtain a daily test.

Thank you.

He is in New Zealand. He said It "seems" socially irresponsible.

I have no idea what his media are telling him but if it is still saying 60 deaths a day, and that is what he is reading, his perception is being made up when compared to having your first infection in 102 days or something similar.

Thats probably true if you live in a country with one of the best actions on covid where its virtually erradicated it must slant your view. Personally though if the FCO are advising against all but essential travel to a country anyone who decides to must accept that theres a risk I just hope if they get caught out they don't expect any of the authorities to help them and most importantly don't think that it would be a good idea if they start to show symptoms to try and get back to the UK.

We're due to leave for Spain early September. Due to current advise not to travel, insurance companies are not providing cover. Our annual cover is due for renewal next week at a cost of £400. Don't think we'll bother renewing until a later date and put the money towards the ferry cost.

Thank you.
Both tested 15 days ago, self isolating until we left UK with only essential contact social distancing and maximum sanitisation, no symptoms. Of course impossible for any one of us to know for sure, as I said, it’s about risk management.

See the doom merchants are out why don't you start your own thread ????
