The 12v cigarette lighter/socket in my 2024 Transit never seems to switch off after turning the ignition off.

I keep unplugging the dashcam so it doesn’t drain the battery. Anyone know if there is a simple way to make it come on and off with the engine?

On our 2023 transit the 12v socket and usb sockets go off after about 20mins

If the problem is just for the dash cam then hard wire it in…..

What do you trickle charge with it, if you don’t mind me asking?
CTEK MXS 5.0 would get my vote.

Used to keep it on my VW over winter until I had Lithium and a battery maintainer installed.

I could actually do with a few extra 12v sockets to power a rear view camera and maybe a satnav too… if I bought one of these splitters with on/off switches I guess I could stop the devices running without having to physically unplug them but not sure if the splitter itself would still draw some current?

No ehu at my storage so I periodically, in the winter when solar lacking , connect a battery charger to the dashboard socket powered from an ecoflow power station charged at home. The leisure battery is adequately charged by solar even in a grey january but not the starter battery.
