Folding steering wheel for Ducato (1 Viewer)

Has any one come across a folding (move away) steering wheel for a late Fiat Ducato I know that they are available for Iveco and did wonder if any one has had experience.
I am going to take a look at an Iveco one with a possible view to conversion.
I will contact Fiat in Milan and ask them directly if they have any plans for one in the near future.
Also how many people would buy one and at what would be deemed a reasonable cost.

On our last van a Rapido and on our new van a Hymer the steering wheel fouls the turning of the drivers seat quite badly

I would consider fitting one, but I suspect the cost would rule it out.

I´ve got a Rapido, all you need to do is push the seat forward before turning, then it easily clears the steering wheel.

Our is a bit of a backward and forward phaff but not too bad. Would dropping the steering wheel to its bottom limit help?

fiats would probably charge that for the nut to hold it on is it realy feasable with the newer vans having wheel mounted controls and an airbag

I take it your armrests don´t lift up then, as mine do.

I´ve got a Rapido, all you need to do is push the seat forward before turning, then it easily clears the steering wheel.

Yes we did that then the seat hit the side seats so would not turn fully

Maybe some of the A class vans have larger seats ie thicker seats or more padding and once it is turned you can not recline the back at all with the wheel up or down.
This is just to get a idea of how many people think it would be an improvement.

A removable wheel would be the answer .............. were it not for the airbag .

I assume you mean something like an HGV steering wheel, which folds up when you stop?

I suspect your insurance company wouldn't be happy as you'd be removing the air bag which would mean you had less protection in an accident.

Not at all the one used in the Iveco still users the original air bag the only difference is a set of plates in between the wheel and the coulomb quite a simple thing to do.
Then again the insurance do not pay out if the day has a Y in it.
