Those of you who have fitted a Chinese diesel heater under a motorhome, have you fabricated a box to house it in or just attached to the underside and left it open to the elements?

My heater is bolted into an "L" bracket which is bolted to the rear chassis extension.
I made a thermal jacket to cover the heater which protects it from dust, muck and detritus that might be thrown up at it and reduces heat loss from the heater being in colder external air temperatures.

That looks a great job. Think I will aim for something similar.

What was the box made of that the heater sits in. Marine ply?

I made each of the 4 sides and ends of the heater cover from 2 layers of self-adhesive foil-covered thermo-acoustic foam stuck together.
Duck tape joins the long edges of the 4 sides and a couple of velcro straps hold it all in place around the heater.

Here's the stainless steel "L" bracket for mounting the heater that I used.

Two on Tour , pray tell, is your heater an Ebersbacher or a Chinese clone. I ask because I'm wondering if that bracket is transferable to the clones.

Mine is a Chinese diesel heater and yes the mounting bracket fits both. (y)

Just be careful that the exhaust is far enough away from any floor vents. It's often difficult to under mount and still keep a fall on the exhaust to drain condensate but keep away from vents
