We have been restoring a 1993 Hightop VWT4 and have nearly completed the inside. I am puzzled about how to fit a curtain to the sliding side door for privacy. There are curtain rails elsewhere. There are also two unidentified plastic fittings to the left of the door, looking out. What are these?
All help and suggestions are welcome!

The two short curtain tracks are to hold a fake curtain for effect. The best way I found to fit a curtain to the side door was sew what appeared as a pair of curtains but run a long strip of velcro along the top and tabs where needed at the bottom. Then you can push them appart to get in or out but they can be removed when needed

Thank you for the suggestion. This solution is certainly worth further investigation but I'm not sure how the velcro idea would work as the side door is fully carpeted/lined around the window and Velcro loop strip would not stick. I would also be concerned about tearing off the lining.
Are there any other suggestions out there? "There must be more than one way to skin a cat!" I don't condone this old analogy! lol

I previously tried the Velcro and as you say it doesn’t stick very well. What I did on my T4 was to use “rare earth magnets” sewn into the curtain. The ones I used were approximately 20mm in diameter.

With regards to sewing the magnets in, my wife found that it was impossible to sew on the sewing machine as the magnet kept sticking to the needle. What she did was to leave open pockets and hand sew the magnets in

Trevor, that sounds like a great solution. Do you have any pictures?

I sold my T4 about 5 years ago. I’ve had a look through my old photos to see what I had and I’ve found these. All my curtains were held up with magnets, hopefully this will give you some ideas

Cheers

When I converted a T25 many years ago, I curtain off the complete door with 2 long curtains. This allowed me, on hot days, to open the sliding door to allow the breeze in while still giving me some privacy.
