Fishing rules from the shore

Can anybody help with the current rules in respect of fishing from the shore or harbour around the Benidorm area? I hear the need for a licence has been relaxed.

Fairly certain you will need a license and the penalty can be severe. Try the local tourist office, they may be able to help you as being a Brit without an ID card is more than problematical.

Bit subtle here as you fish with a net and you are angling with a rod.
I did see someone using a net from the shore recently in Bay Of Roses, I should have asked him.

Each region have their own regulations. Here in Murcia it's around €15 for a year but that's for all of Spain, fishing from the shore. Over the border in the Alicante region it may be totally different though.

For a couple of years now the local plod have been stopping us fishing in altea marina saying we need a license to fish but the fishing shops are saying we dont. anyway the plod have the last word so now we dont fish because we dont want the fine

Where do you apply in Murcia ?
Currently near Aguilas and would like to sort one out for our next trip.

Ask in any Ayuntamiento (Town Hall).
