Chausson 640 welcome
Exp
Since October 2019
Just under a year old and chausson failed damp test around one of the habitation windows . Fortunately in warranty but can’t be seen until November . Pinched up the screws holding the window in , gonna run a think line of silicone around the outside and then hope for the best.

ruddy frustrating

How damp did it read? Was it a case of it having soaked through and wasn't drying?, Just one side/edge or all along the bottom of the window?

DO NOT USE SILICON. The next person who tries to repair it will have a difficult job of removing it, even the slightest residue will mean nothing else, including silicon, will stick to it. Suggest Puraflex 40 for short term, it yellows with age, or the dearer Sikaflex.

50% and below the main habitation window in the side walls .

Ugh, that's not so good. Hope you can get it resolved soonest. We had a fairly major leak on our Rapido last year, roof-mounted rail screw fixing points had decided to let the rain in (the rain always puddled where the fixing points were) and we suffered water running through and out of the ceiling downlight holes. The good news is though that we were able to dry it out entirely (forcing warm air into the affected areas for hours on end) and once it was resealed outside, the problem went away. During that time we covered the MoHo with an oversize tarp and kept the rain off to prevent it from getting any worse whilst we waited for the roof to dry out and a decent weather day to repair the sealant.

Jewellbags That's a bit of a bugger, mines in today for its first hab service so 🤞.

By coincidence I had to nip up all of the screws on the door side hab window as I found they had not been fully tightened.

This is where it's worth putting up and paying the mandatory Chausson required hab service as there is no get out for the dealer 😀.

I would check with the dealer before you carry out your own repair, they might refuse to do a repair if a non authorised job has been done on it.

I’ve , as instructed by my dealer , nipped in the screws , run a thin line of sealant across the top
And booked in for November for the warranty assseement .its a right pi£&)£er but one of those things I guess

Vehicle under one year old? probably paid in excess of £50k for it? and your doing your own repairs?! If it was a BMW or a Merc or an Audi would you tolerate that? No way Jose! You say can't be seen until November, the panels will have delaminated and it will be a total pain for the rest of the time it's on the road. Back to the manufacturer, kick up a proper stink about it, tell them that you posted a thread on MotorHomeFun that's been viewed thousands of times. I suspect they'll be desperate to fix it the following day so you can, grudgingly, report back on their customer service!! There is definitely such a thing as bad publicity and rubbish aftermarket service. We as a group don't realise how effective our public voice can be as a lobbying group. I know that's not the main raison d'etre of the site but it's a damned effective byproduct! I'm a member of the MX5OC and have seen on many occasions what an effective lobbying tool the club can be, MotorHomeFun has literally hundreds of thousands more members. I know it's alien to the way us Brits normally do things, but if you want action and you've tried appealing to the company's better nature and got nowhere then they deserve all the bad publicity they get. Whoa! A rant! Something must have set me off again!! Sorree!!

Let us know how you get on. Good luck shouldn't come in to it!!;)

Cheers!

Russ
