Went for our first run out since lockdown. Got happily ensconced on a lovely site near home and found that the Thetford toilet cassette was broken. When I went to open the blade, it was clear something had broken as the blade opened far too easily and also you could see part of the mechanism.
Opened up the cassette and found that this black plastic part that keeps the blade from dropping down had snapped at three screw points. Not sure if the photo shows it . Anyway, have a new cassette on order and we’re able to use the cassette in the meantime. Home on Friday. Was wondering what was likely to snap the plastic bit?

I can only think that when the van was getting a habitation service, someone tried to remove the cassette before closing the blade in the van. I suppose 5 years of use by us and three by the previous owner isn’t too bad.
Ludicrous though the price of spares. Nearly £60 (ex postage) for the mechanism alone whilst the whole cassette, including a new seat and cover at £107. Went for the whole cassette and cover.

Only ever had one with wheels. Very useful, especially when far away from the toilet drain.
