I have a Sharp smart tv in the MotorhomeFun but it doesn’t do live tv streaming. Would a firestick give me live streamed tv like the iPad does? Thanks

Yes as long as your TV has hdmi slot and as long as you can power the firestick. Also you will obviously need data or WiFi.

Search 'firestick' on here and you will find a few handy threads all about it.

If it’s like my smart I needed a separate dongle to pick up WiFi, so I went the fire stick route instead

Surprised a SMART TV does not have all the usual iplayer/ITV hub etc.... thats what makes it smart:LOL:
It’s not very smart It gets iplayer / itv but yoU can’t get live tv Sharp confirm that. I just fancied iplayer like on ipad

We used a firestick in the Motorhome for the first time in France a few weeks ago and its brilliant. You obviously need a WiFi signal, but you get everything like at home, live TV and youtube included.

We didn't use the sat dish at all.

Yes, get a nice deal on unlimited data to go with it and use your phone as a mobile hotspot. Although we find that some coverage an be sketchy for streaming and don't park under big trees!

Used one all over Spain France and Portugal all last year, brilliant.BUSBY

How much data do you need say just to watch Tele in the evening a couple of hours with the stick. Cheers
If you set everything you can find to low Res you'll get through about 0.5Gb/hr. SD is about 1.0Gb/hr & HD is about 3.0Gb/hr

We've just bought a Firestick and happily using Netflix on it but a question as I'm just getting used to it.

is it possible to download Netflix movies while online to view later offline, like I can with a tablet ? It's a useful Netflix feature.

Thanks.

If you download to your tablet you can Cast to the Firestick but it's a bit clunky

I bought a Firestick 2 weeks ago for use in the motorhome, took it to Italy last week (not in motorhome), and added a free VPN for perfect english tv. The advantage of the Firestick is you can run it off the usb socket on the tv.

The USB needs to be quite powerful at about 2.0 amps but many TVs squeal at more than 1.0 amp

I dont know anything about amps, but I’ve tried the Firestick in 5 different TVs now, have I just been lucky, 🤣🤣.

I download to an old phone with a large sd card then play it back through a lead. One advantage is I can download using free wifi, (mc D etc.) and play back without any wifi available

Or maybe I was just unlucky with mine not having enough USBs in two separate telly's 😏
Off grid I use a double 12v adapter and run the tv from one and put a usb adapter in the other for power to phone or firestick

Hi we have Firesticks running Virgin TV to Go in our MH and House powered from the TV,s usb no problem, use mainly to watch Moto GP and WSBK.

For some reason my Firestick won"t work if my cheapo 1.0amp USB plugs (or the telly USB) so I have to use my posh 2.4amp plugs although I've just had an idea about my inverter which will hopefully solve it all 😏
