Help please with this one :) although I think I might know the answer. :(

In the MH, we have a non Smart LED TV, with no HDMI connection, and only scart, USB, and component connections.
In Spain, we will have a very good WiFi signal, and may take out a VPN subscription before we leave home.

Question........can we use our Firestick (with Kodi installed) with our non Smart TV, to watch UK Catch Up TV. If it is possible to use our existing TV, that would be preferable to finding a 19" Smart TV to replace it.

Thanks in advance. :)

Jock. :)

We used it here on a very basic telly.

Are you sure? What make/model have you got?
A Kogan, but it's a few years old, and it's in the MH..................which is in storage, so I can't give you any more details. ;)

I'm off to my bed, dosed up with paracetamol. :(

Night night.

Jock, make sure the vpn subscription you get will support Amazon Prime, some don't, some do, I have just had a few issues with this, now sorted.

Did they have tellies in 1945?

I was not yet born in 1945, so the world was still a very dark place, but in a few more years, I did appear in this world and the sun arose.

I know all this because my dad always said, when referring to my mum, “ the sun shines out of your arse “. :)

Thanks for that Martin. I'll check. (y)

I don't think so.!!!! 1945 !!!!

I didn't think so either, but I wasn't going to encourage Yorik. ;)

I was not yet born in 1945,
Nor me Mike. ;)

Anyway, can anyone else guide me on the original question please?

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Er no HDMI, no fire stick, treat yourself to a new TV(y)

Jock will an HDMI to scart or usb connector not work?

You can get convertors but never used one..
If ordering CHECK you get one that is doing it the right way, there are many misleading adverts and the conversion is opposite to what you want..
NOTE.. You dont need a Smart TV just a newer model with HDMI. The firestck will provide all the smart features. You may also find the new LED tv's have a much better power consumption so will aid the battery saving when off EHU.
Cant comment on the VPN stuff, not messed with it..

Jock.. Ditch the firestick... So 2016.. ;) :D

All tellies since 1945 have a HDMI port
That would be a redundant port for a very, very long time then.
HDMI was developed in 2002 by 7 major electronics companies.
It is backwards compatible with DVI but that wasn't around in 1945 either.

Which is what I thought might need to happen. :(

That's what I was hoping for Steve. It doesn't need to be an HD picture, but a bonus if it was. :)

Thanks for the link to the converter Steve. (y)

Re ditching the Firestick, the very reason for having one, is because I couldn't get on with the Android TV box.:( Remember? ;)

Well thats not going to make it work is it. :)
No Lenny  and the Paracetamol is not making anything else work, or get better either. I'm now on antibiotics and steroids...................again.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Doc Martin. suggests a double dose of Spanish winter sunshine, a reasonable glug of Spanish Red, three time a day with meals. If that fails to cure come and see me.

I'll definitely be on my way Martin.........................but it won't be before New Year. :(
Meanwhile, I've got plenty of Spanish wine, so I can practise at home. How's that sound Doc Martin? BTW, do you still have an aversion to blood?

Cheers,

Jock. ;)
