I had the central channel blockage problem in August but managed to clear it by separating the two halves of the drainage pipe as it runs over the rocker cover [under the brake fluid reservoir in the photo]. It is a bit fiddly to get a good reconnection, though ...

yes i have done that but the blockage is about 15 inches further down i cant clear it i might get my compressor out and try that ps dont try with a pressure washer on a cold day

On mx5’s we use a steel sprung trombone cleaning brush to clear the drains for the roof drains

I had to do the same last year, yes i used a trombone brush. Dont know if its a mazda thing but i bought mine 8yrs ago for my Bongo. As reccomended by bongo owners.

Can you try from underneath? may be hitting another joint.

bought a bendy spring and tried it today but no joy still hitting a hard obstruction about 18 inches in so no option but to remove the inner wing lining as you cant see the other end of the drain , too cold and windy today will try soon

OK update the wing liner comes off OK without taking the wheel off the obstruction I was hitting is the end of the drain which has a flap on the end of it which is squashed flat against the liner so it easily blocks up ..40 min job shame it's such a bad design
